If Zac does HS2, then it would be his 5th musical movie and after that is Footloose, another high school and song/dance type of movie. Some directors will probably look at him as musical type of actor and will consider him for more serious meaty type of roles. I remember John Travolta did Saturday Night Fever and Grease, then he was silent for quite awhile. When he finally did Look Who’s Talking, the critic reviews of his acting were that he is more musical actor than straight role acting.

Johnny Depp has done 2 musical movies, however, one of his musical is about a killer taking revenge and murdering his victims. Johnny Depp’s movie call Cry Baby in the early 90’s, it is more about a singing band, and after that he did not film any song/dance/music type of movie till 2000, which was Willy Woncka Chocolate Factory (Disney). Then just last year in 2007, he filmed a musical but it is about a serial killer, more like opera…which it is different from your typical happy and gay type of musical, and it did won the Golden Globe, SAG, and Oscar (?) awards. Johnny Depp does space apart 3 to 5 years before filming another musical movie role. Beside Johnny Depp did other type of movies as well as the Pirate. Johnny Depp started in a TV serious called 21 Jump Street, which was a cop/detective TV serious. Zac has filmed musical movies in 2006, 2007, and 2008, with HS2 in 2009. Okay, he filmed 17 Again and MAOW all in same time frame…but he did more song/dance/musical movies than just straight up acting roles. Probably why, he did not get the movie role for Speed Racer, eventho the movie didn’t do well but it was an action type of movie role.

Shia LaBeouf has to take on movie roles that curses alot just to shake off his Disney sweet images to be taken as a serious actor. That’s how he was given roles from a big time director like George Lucas for movie as Indiana Jones with Harrison Ford.

Vanessa has already mentioned that she is staying away from musical for awhile. She has already left Disney and looking for more serious movie roles. I believe Vanessa has to take on some movie roles that are not so sweet and bit rough/tough to shake off her Disney Gabriella sweet image to show other directors that she can take on more substantial roles. As for Lucas, he is probably doing the same thing.

as much as I love Ashley, I don’t think it means anything to me if she is just a Disney girl or Hollywood actress because at the end of the day, it just the same ( except the salaries I guess hehehehehe ). And the most important thing is that she is happy, etc….

With Vanessa, I like her singing better than acting. In thirteen, she didn’t really do nothing. She was just supporting character with really few lines. In thunderbirds, she was quite good but the movie fails really bad in U.S ( did well internationally though )

I believe ( my opinion ), Vanessa has disadvantages in her voice ( although Ashley’s is more shown ), that limits her to play in serious movies….

I love her , really, but her voice is annoying , high-pitched, and her giggling is way too much. WHICH ALL OF THESE occured ONLY in HSM, but face it, lots of people ONLY know Vanessa from HSM and Zanessa or (sorry) the scandal…

same with Ashley ( although she was already nominated for Golden Globe way before she joins Disney which makes me think that it’s a BIG mistake for her joining Disney just like Demi Lovato, her singing ability is limited in Disney )

I don’t wanna compare or contrast Van or Ash in any way, but I do feel that Vanessa hasn’t really gotten an opportunity to showcase herself and her acting abilities. She was super limited in her role for HSM. She did a great job in it, but I can understand why she feels she needs to “show another side” of herself. She is a smart girl for realizing that.
On the issue of her voice. Many people say that she sings through her nose, but I feel the same way about Ashley. I have heard Zac say, Kenny say it, and so many others that there isn’t a note she can’t sing. When asked by the cast, they have all said that Vanessa vocals are the best as far as the girls go…and I would have to agree.
This whole cast is ready to break out of the Disney genre…I really believe that we are going to see that in the next few months. I await with baited breath to see what comes for Vanessa and just hope that someone will give her the role of a lifetime so she can prove herself.
I will say for a 14 year old, what she did in Thunderbirds what amazing. And my goodness what growth we have seen from her in the past three years. She just needs a real chance to break out. Let’s hope that role is comin soon…love this girl!!

yeah…we need to expect that to change though…I don’t think vanessa has any intention to work with Disney for ahwile…and hopefully after one more album she can set herself free from hollywood records…part of the reason for the flop of the second album was the stipulations they put on production and song choice. My favorite song didn’t even make the album. Really frustrated about that. She had some amazing producers and writers working with her, but she had to follow acts like JB, and Miley, so that blew it for her. And the fact that she doesn’t have the freedom to really do the music she wants to do. She actually has a voice like Christina Aguilerra. So much promise, but while she is with HR….forget it!!

Gone with the wind is, but Don’t leave isn’t. And think back to Christina’s early days with disney…she sounded almost identical to V. Growing up and working with better professionals is what improved her voice. If V had that chance she totally could be that.

Christina’s voice is a bit nasal and whiney in her first album. Even back before that when she was equated to Brittany and justin. her vocals were not what they are now.. Obviously that would be true for anyone, you improve the more you work on something, but you have to have some sort of natural ability, and V has it, she just nee s to work with the right people to bring it out.

Honestly, I don’t think there’s one song that I like off of V’s album, I was actually disappointed because the lyrics didn’t make sense and it’s still a little childish.
Her first album, I don’t have but I have heard and it is really good.
I think her second album was rushed, and she didn’t get to promote it at all.
And of course, I think she should def leave Hollywood Records, they don’t seem to be doing anything for her singing career and are really holding her back.
I felt bad and embarressed that her second album sold less then her first album did.
I don’t know about Vanessa having a voice like Christina’s because we haven’t heard it and If she does, she’s going help on how to bring it out and mangage it.
Hopefully, Bandslam will do good, I’ve been hearing rumors that she might be in the new Twilight movie and a few other ones, I’m hoping they are true.
She really needs more mature roles to be taken seriously.
Ashley stuff is still with Disney, I don’t think I’ll be seeing her new movie, but at least it’s going to be on the big screen.

I hope that Vanessa will be on New Moon the next of the Twilight series, she has the look that they are going for.

I adore V’s 2nd album and I much prefer it to the first, aside from ‘Say Ok’. It was just a different sound for her, she was trying something new, and thats what being an artist is all about. She loved it, and she was happy with it, sometimes it doesn’t matter if it was hugely sucessful, it just matters if you are content. The same with movies, I don’t believe in all this ‘taken seriously’ rubbish. Who defines what’s a good movie or not, the critics? the fans?, the media?. Its subjective, and everyone is allowed their opinion. If i’m honest, I never read reviews, pay no attention to what people think is ‘cool’, and I generally make up my own mind. In no way am I going to sit through some awful ‘indie’ movie just because some people said its good. I think as an actor, you have to make your own choices because at the end of the day, your going to have to live with it, play it, promote it, have it on your imdb etc etc.

I don’t think V will stay with Disney, I think Ashley will. Zac has already moved on, so has Lucas and Corbin. I also don’t think its fair to say anything negative about Zac and HSM promo, the poor guy knows he was thrust into the centre, and you can tell he hated every minute of it, hence why he always looks so arkward and sullen, apart from with V. I think a part of that is the pressure the put on him, especially when it concerns his and V’s relationship. But, they have weathered the storm together, and are still strong and ready to move on to different projects. Don’t expect Zac, or V to stick with Disney, its highly unlikely, I think they have made their feelings clear, even if its covert whilst promoting a movie for them.

At the end of the day, its all about going into that audition, or putting yourself forward for a role, and giving it your all. No outside factor is going to influence the casting people, its all about whether or not they see you in that role, and if they don’t, whether or not you can prove to them that you will be great, like Zac did for Hairspray. V has amazing untapped talent, and so does Zac. These kids know what it takes, and they have the work ethic and sensibility to get there. We haven’t seen anything yet, where these two are concered. I hope they just take their time and think things through, make their own choices, and take no notice of detractors. You can’t live like that, and they shouldn’t either. Its all about being happy with the choices you make, and thats got to come from within.

Yeah, go back to ancient days on disney…not her first solo album…very different. Anyways, doesn’t matter…the girl has got serious potential..our producers here believe the thing that is holder her back is her team at HR…and I couldn’t agree more.
BTW she signed with them because she was young, influenced and had a bunch of idiots advising her. people she trusted and they screwed her over…hence, the lawsuits you have heard about. I won’t go into detail about that.
