Zac Efron On Drugs? Say It Ain’t So!
It ain’t so.
But if Zac Efron signs on for the much-talked about sequel to the 2007 movie musical Hairspray, his character Link Larkin would!
Producer Marc Shaiman tells MTV that the sequel would be a true John Waters-type film. But what about the plot? He shares, “People hate Tracy (Nikki Blonsky) because she doesn’t lose weight. They ask ‘Now that you’re famous, why won’t you lose weight?’. And Link (Efron) experiments with drugs. Throughout half the movie, he has an ongoing dialogue with three pimples on his forehead. Edna (John Travolta) loses weight, but sees her husband (Christopher Walken) lusting after fat women. And so, she finally breaks down and runs over to a snack table. Just within one number, she gets fat again; gaining 20 pounds at a time. [Her fat] pops out, and by the end of the song she’s completely at her old weight again.”

i dont think this is real…one its silly and two im almost certain john travolta will NOT be returning for the sequel.
i won’t watch hairspray 2!!! I LOVE ZAC EFRON but I HATE NIKKI SOOOO MUCH! she is just soooooo fat and just wanna ask can you loose some weight? and you are not pretty or beautiful! don’t act like a cute person, I HATE YOU!

Even if you don’t like Nikki, no need to abuse her, people.
I don’t think this will be a good idea at all for Zac for many reasons:
-A sequel to a remake is a no-no
-The plot is off-base with HS target audience
-6 musicals is a bit too much for someone trying to be taken seriously as an actor.
All round, it would be career suicide and a huge backward step in my opinion.
The sad thing is that this is one of the politics of hollywood. Being a heartthrob and being in demand is causing him a lot of trouble as many of us stated a while back.
Less popular actors with no mentors(like Lucas & Vanessa) rarely struggle with issues like this, they’re free to pick and choose even if it’s a small role or small studio.
The producer Adam Shankman developed 17 again for him, knowing it will be a success because of Zac and realizing that he’ll have Zac in his debt.
Adam knows it’ll be bad for Zac’s career to do HS2 but the truth is that he is not interested in Zac’s career but in making money and Zac would be a cash cow for him. As soon as Zac looses his credibility and is no longer able to make money, Adam would drop him like a hot potato. It’s a game of use him for as long as you gain from it.
Zac is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. He just has to be courageous and go for a route in which he’ll retain the most respect for himself. Keanu Reeves refused to do Speed 2 and Rachel Wiescz refused to do Mummy 3, they’re still acting. Adam Shankman does not control hollywood and though Zac might have a backlash if he refuses HS 2, his career wouldn’t tank, lots of indie producers would still give him a chance to prove himself but at least he’ll be respected by fans and the industry alike.
Ultimately, it’s his choice and the script is not final but I hope he has good advisers around him.
Zac has to learn that you can’t please everyone and that sometimes you have to become smaller to become better. Bigger is not always better and you can’t sell yourself out to hold on to a career you might end up loosing.
I’m sure he would recieve any backlash. If you read these comments, I think his fans would stand behind that decision. We also know that fan power sells in hollywood as well. People get rolls cause they sale. Zac has enough true fans to be able to say no and not have worry bout what Adam thinks or says. To say that, Zac have proven over and over interviews and in public settings that is a pretty sharp guy with loads of intergrity when it comes to where he wants to go and what he wants to do,
I can actually see him being able to say no to this, and be okay among the whole of hollywood. Just becuase of his strong character and maturity. No worries guys!!
this plot is literally A JOKE. seriously, the dude was joking when he said it. they probably aren’t even making a HS2.
I think the plots sounds funny.
I also think it is a total rumor coz he was asked in an interview and he said he had heard nothing about it!
I think IF it was true and he did sign up, it would be a good role for him to play, as its something totally different to all the other roles and storylines he has had before!

It just sounds like a Hairspray version of Epic Movie.
Looks more like someone posted stuff on the web hoping it would spread.

the plot sounds rubbish and like some of you have already said, it sends a bad m,essage to teens. Zac is a well known household name and even if he just plays a character who takes drugs, people are gonna think, well if zac does it it must be cool cos he is cool. Plus, zac should try to get away from musicals.
Oh and the only movies that should have sequels are the completley origional movies. Harspay is a stage show turned into a movie, it is not ment to have a sequel. You would not have a mamma mia sequel
