Michael Copon: I’ve Got 60 Pounds on Taylor Lautner
Looks like Michael Copon and Taylor Lautner will be duking it out for the role of Jacob Black!
Michael, 26, just spoke with J-14 to talk about nabbing himself the perfect part in New Moon, the upcoming sequel to Twilight.
On what he’s been doing to prepare: I feel like I need to bulk down. Right now I’m close to 200 pounds of muscle. Taylor’s [Lautner] probably what, 140, if he’s lucky? I’m already 200 pounds, so there’s no need for me to get any bigger. Plus he’s 5′6″ and I’m 6′2″. In the book, he grows eight inches and I’m exactly eight inches taller than Taylor. Huge difference.
On why he should get the role of Jacob Black: I have nothing against Taylor personally. I think he’s great and tremendous at what he does. But it’s just adjusting to the fact that Jacob has to grow. It’s a matter of going with the storyline. It goes with the territory. I see so much in Jacob Black that I feel like wasn’t brought to the first film that if I had the opportunity, I would totally create an amazing character.
On the books: I’ve read the first one and I’ve dabbled through the Cliffs Notes of the second and third ones. I haven’t had time to actually sit down and read the whole book, but I kind of know what happens.

jacob is meant to be sweet most of the way through new moon (which i get the impression taylor is) and a bit cocky in parts too which taylor can do. i can live with a short jacob
plus taylor is hench now lol!
the only other person i think i could stand as jacob would be steven strait or w/e his name is. lots of people have used him in new moon-esque videos due to the lack of taylor clips and i think he could work too
I think he looks like sam uley, i mean he’d fit for the role because that’s exactly how i imagined he’d look like, and besides he too self centered and looks nothing like jacob black. they said he grows bigger, but that doesnt mean taller, taylor, is already building up his muscles <3 <3 <3

I do NOT think that it would be the same if the had someone else to play Jacob Black. Plus Michael Copon is very,very cocky.nI would/will be very pissed off if they do that.
I understand the fact that he didn’t read the books. As an actor you should know what’s going on, however, if you are truly a fan of the book (because I’m pretty sure if you read the book before the movies were ever in the works) you were a fan because of the book…..not what actor plays the character. I’m happy Copon didn’t get the role (I personally don’t think he’s a douche) because some twilight fans seem like they would stalk and try to physically hurt the man. Crazy twilight fans have serious turned me off of all things twilight with their childish, deranged, and mean spirited behavior.
wtf. that guy is way too self-absorbed. he is soo ugly and a total jerk. the book never said he grew 8 in. it just said he grew. and of course according to him, jacob grows 8 in. oh look what a coincedince! taylors meant for this role and they shouldt give it away to some guy who thinks he the best. hes such an ass.
so glad they didnt change it its just so stupid changing the character in the first movie for a different one in the second its what they did with the mummy series rachel weiz was in 1 and 2 and then for 3 it was someone completly different and i just didnt feel like watching it they should at least say something like oh he remarried after his wife died or something but they cant do that for new moon so glad taylors gonna be in it!!xx

Wow, Taylor is soooo Jacob! Even his personality in real life. He looks almost wolfish, in a very hot sexy way. But yeah, that Michael dude needs to cut out the crap and go back to playing Barbies. Leave Jacob Black to those who can actually portray him. Namely, Taylor Lautner.
