Michael Copon: I’ve Got 60 Pounds on Taylor Lautner
Looks like Michael Copon and Taylor Lautner will be duking it out for the role of Jacob Black!
Michael, 26, just spoke with J-14 to talk about nabbing himself the perfect part in New Moon, the upcoming sequel to Twilight.
On what he’s been doing to prepare: I feel like I need to bulk down. Right now I’m close to 200 pounds of muscle. Taylor’s [Lautner] probably what, 140, if he’s lucky? I’m already 200 pounds, so there’s no need for me to get any bigger. Plus he’s 5′6″ and I’m 6′2″. In the book, he grows eight inches and I’m exactly eight inches taller than Taylor. Huge difference.
On why he should get the role of Jacob Black: I have nothing against Taylor personally. I think he’s great and tremendous at what he does. But it’s just adjusting to the fact that Jacob has to grow. It’s a matter of going with the storyline. It goes with the territory. I see so much in Jacob Black that I feel like wasn’t brought to the first film that if I had the opportunity, I would totally create an amazing character.
On the books: I’ve read the first one and I’ve dabbled through the Cliffs Notes of the second and third ones. I haven’t had time to actually sit down and read the whole book, but I kind of know what happens.

All right, here’s my thought. I would rather Jacob be 3 feet tall than have this cocky jerk be Jacob. He hasn’t even READ Jacob’s book. By that, I mean New Moon, which is the movie we’re talking about. Personally, if he gets the role I don’t know what I’ll do. I’m seriously considering boycotting going to even see New Moon. Knowing me, I love the Twilight series and Stephenie Meyer too much to do that, but if he somehow gets the role I’m going to BOO! every time he comes on screen. EVERY time.
Also, I love Taylor. His face is perfect, he has Jacob’s smile down pat, he was in the first movie and he’s just so NICE. Jacob is supposed to be the sun and this jerk Micheal is definitely NOT the sun, although he does seem to think the whole world revolves around him. So yeah, I do NOT want this evil-Jacob imposter in this movie. No thank you.
Who does Michael think he is? He talks like he was already the new Jacob Black , He should stop dreaming , he’s never ever gonna be Jacob Black , he’s way too ugly , and he absolutely don’t know how to act . AND , he’s too old . And too pretentious .

i can guarentee that if they replace taylor, they will have a much smaller audience so seriously, dont punish the whole cast by replacing taylor.
I think Michael thinks to much of himself.I remember him one One Tree Hill and would be very disappointed if he plays Jacob Black.I think Taylor did an excellent job and he really relates to the character.He is making a great effort of becoming more like Jacob.Michael makes it sound like he already has the part please tell me that is not true.Leave the cast the way it is.LEAVE TAYLOR AS JACOB BLACK. I haven’t seen the Twilight movie or read the book. All I know is that Michael Copon is a bad actor. They should keep Taylor Lautner because people just hate when actors are replaced in movies with such a big fan base.

A precedent has already been set with Sam Uley, during the time of the first book, Sam was suppose to have already gone through the change, and he sure as heck wasn’t six foot, six inches.

Sheesh. It’s been a while since I’ve seen someone so full of themselves… Copon needs a hearty helping of humble pie. He has some growing to do for sure, that growth has nothing to do with body mass. The Twilight series is too good for this young man to spoil. They’ll keep Taylor, they’d be fools not to.
