Hairspray 2: White Lipstick — Official Movie Title!
Hairspray director Adam Shankman spilled the beans about the sequel to New Line’s blockbuster movie-musical and just how Zac Efron and Brittany Snow fit into the big picture.
Hairspray 2: White Lipstick is the sequel’s official movie title, which was actually the original title for 1998’s Hairspray. Shankman dished to MTV on more of teen idol Zac, 21, and less of Brittany, 22. Here’s what he had to say:
On Link Larkin getting hooked on acid: “I think that’s probably part of the treatment that won’t get used. And in the treatment, [Efron’s drug use] is an accident. That’s the kind of stuff where you’re like: ‘Yeah, I don’t know if that’s going to work.’”
On who will take the place of the Von Tussles, the villians of the movie: “There’ll be a change in villains. [John Waters’ treatment] is ideas that we’re just going to pick and choose from, and we’ll see what happens with it. Probably [no Michelle Pfeiffer]. Not because we didn’t love her, but because we just thought different adversaries [would be necessary].”
On the Vietnam War backdrop: “No, it wasn’t Zac.”

I have no idea what the hell any of that meant, and I think they shouldn’t make a remake. If it was a good script and storyline, but from this article, I don’t think it will be very good. I hope Zac doesn’t sign on to this movie if it is going to bomb. He really needs to make the right decisions on what movies to be in if he wants to make it big in this business. I would usually go for it, but I don’t think this storyline even makes sense.
Hairspray 2 sounds so dumb. I really hope that Zac doesn’t do the movie. First because he and Nikki don’t look good together at all and I think the movie sounds lame. I love Zac and I don’t want to see him get pulled into the musicals again since he said he didn’t want to do them anymore. I love him in musicals but I don’t want him in Hairspray 2. I doubt I make any sense but I just don’t want Zac to do the movie. It sounds like a horrible sequel.

It sounds like he’s trying to use Zac’s popularity to make this movie a hit. Not everything should be made into a sequal, and I’m afraid this is one of them.

The plot is stupid, but Im glad they dumped the “Zac on drugs thingy” Cuz that would be really stupid of him to do. HSM is still to close, he can’t do something like that yet. He have to wait, maybe 2 years, and then he can be the new James Bond and I woulden’t care (I’d just hope to get the part of that movies Bond babe xD)

i think this sequel should go in another direction. they are still trying to keep the main characters the focus of this movie, which nikki would love, and i’m sure zac is not a fan of. they should just not bother writing link into the movie.
they should follow another character and their bond with tracy, like a quid pro quo thing, nikki helped seaweed out with the race thing, seaweed should help tracy with the weight thing (only saying that because it was said that a possible script idea would be that tracy gets made fun of for not losing the weight) and just roll with that and have her do the drugs, all in an effort to lose weight.
Brittany is definately going to be in the sequel I know this for a fact. Jared didn’t mean that she is going to be in the movie less. The paragraph could have been written better because it could be interpreted that way (that she won’t be in the movie much). What he meant was that when Adam talked to MTV he talked a lot more about how Zac will fit into the movie, but he talked less about how Brittany will fit in. She is definately going to be in it and I’m sure she will have a pretty big part as she did last time. My guess is she wont be the bad guy this time, but perhaps part of the gang of friends!
