Hairspray 2: White Lipstick — Official Movie Title!
Hairspray director Adam Shankman spilled the beans about the sequel to New Line’s blockbuster movie-musical and just how Zac Efron and Brittany Snow fit into the big picture.
Hairspray 2: White Lipstick is the sequel’s official movie title, which was actually the original title for 1998’s Hairspray. Shankman dished to MTV on more of teen idol Zac, 21, and less of Brittany, 22. Here’s what he had to say:
On Link Larkin getting hooked on acid: “I think that’s probably part of the treatment that won’t get used. And in the treatment, [Efron’s drug use] is an accident. That’s the kind of stuff where you’re like: ‘Yeah, I don’t know if that’s going to work.’”
On who will take the place of the Von Tussles, the villians of the movie: “There’ll be a change in villains. [John Waters’ treatment] is ideas that we’re just going to pick and choose from, and we’ll see what happens with it. Probably [no Michelle Pfeiffer]. Not because we didn’t love her, but because we just thought different adversaries [would be necessary].”
On the Vietnam War backdrop: “No, it wasn’t Zac.”

I like the fact that a day after JJposts about HS2 this appears… What a coincidence.
Honestly, I think it still sounds shockingly bad. I hate when people think something is good just because a supposed ‘genius’ wrote it. Waters is a freak, he’s so not as good as he is made out to be, and this apparent amazing plot and treatment he’s done shows just that.
Why spoil a good thing, oh wait…money. That is the only reason. Adam know Zac’a name sells and that’s the only reason they keep throwing his name around. It’s so irritating, and I really hope Zac doesn’t do this. I’m all for Footloose, but this is a trainwreck. John did in fact say he would not be doing it, Adam is just trying to big up the film. Hairspray fans are up in arms over it, that screams Epic Fail to me. As for not wanting
Britney, well I think that’s horrid as she is one of the only ones (besides Nikki) actually keen to do it again.
Gahh it just screams bad to me, I hope Zac stays far far away.

As for HS2….no no and hell no. The plot is awlful and it doesn’t need a sequal. Leave Hairspray alone!!!

5-IT COULD SOMEHOW RUIN HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH VANESSA.

children please calm down. This has nothing to do with him and Vanessa. Those two are strong and they love each other too much to get someone as stupid as Nikki get in the way.
This is about the plot. As a fan of the original I wasn’t too thrilled to see them do a movie musical to begin with. It surprised me in that it was good, but this just sounds horrific, and I’m sure no amount of hype will get me and thousand of Hairspray fans to think differently. The ending was perfect, why try and continue it only to end it again, it should be left alone. And no I don’t care if Waters is writing it, he’s a crack pot now anyway, I wouldn’t trust his judgement at all. Zac should stay well clear of this for sure.

a sequel simply just won’t work…i mean the first one was alrite, but to make a sequel is just wrong.
sure some may want to see more of zac, but i think even for his fans would like to see him do movies that wouldn’t suck, and im sure no one would want to see any more of nikki…
I think Zac would look weird as Link now. I mean he looked great as Link, and I know he gained weight to play him, but he is so skinny now and his face has thinned and matured, he would look very odd, especially with the black hair. lol
Anway, aside from that. It just sounds awlful and I think Adam is seeing $ signs more than anything. I think Zac needs to stay clear of this, he really needs to think about peoples reactions to this, and from what I’m seeing 99.9% are saying a big No!!!
I love Zac and I do support him, and I trust him to make his own choice, I mean it’s his life and he has to live with it. I just think this would be a big mistake.

I think Zac should continue to do musicals, actors who can not only act, and can do other things like dance and sing well like Zac are really respected in the acting community. But I am not for HS2

Seriously, why would Vanessa even loose sleep over Nikki? If Vanessa and Zac breaks up, then that’s that. There’s many good looking men in Hollywood. There’s even better looking men outside of it. Zac’s not the only man in the universe.

OK this move sounds more and more stupid every time they release information about it. Personally I dont think any of the cast members should sign on for it if they want to continue having a successful career. Not every movie needs a sequel and HS is one of them!
i don’t think they should do HS2……. zac should do other things then musicals to get more older fans to and and just the idea of hairspray 2 is bad, it was a-one-time-movie……
