Hairspray 2: White Lipstick — Official Movie Title!
Hairspray director Adam Shankman spilled the beans about the sequel to New Line’s blockbuster movie-musical and just how Zac Efron and Brittany Snow fit into the big picture.
Hairspray 2: White Lipstick is the sequel’s official movie title, which was actually the original title for 1998’s Hairspray. Shankman dished to MTV on more of teen idol Zac, 21, and less of Brittany, 22. Here’s what he had to say:
On Link Larkin getting hooked on acid: “I think that’s probably part of the treatment that won’t get used. And in the treatment, [Efron’s drug use] is an accident. That’s the kind of stuff where you’re like: ‘Yeah, I don’t know if that’s going to work.’”
On who will take the place of the Von Tussles, the villians of the movie: “There’ll be a change in villains. [John Waters’ treatment] is ideas that we’re just going to pick and choose from, and we’ll see what happens with it. Probably [no Michelle Pfeiffer]. Not because we didn’t love her, but because we just thought different adversaries [would be necessary].”
On the Vietnam War backdrop: “No, it wasn’t Zac.”

Why is everyone so freaked out over Nikki? I find it hilarious. Just thought I should throw that out there.
You have to realize that they are still writing the script and things are being edited in and out. Adam S already said they were taking out the drugs thing and weird talking acne thing. I’m pretty sure if they can get John Travolta (RIP Jett) it means it will be a good script and movie. But Zac should consider that so far it sounds ridiculous, and I just contradicted myself. Oops.

grrr… i do not like Nikki and Zac together. even if its acting. i bet it was Nikki’s idea for another Hairspray since she might have been a dead flame if not.

Some films are best left at having just one of them done and I honestly think that this is the case with HS, the script sounds stupid and I can’t honestly see how doing HS2 would make it any better it was good the first time round, I was’nt a big fan of the Zac and Nikki parts nothing to do with her size for her first big film she did really good but her and Zac together just did’nt click for me. I have to say I thought that JT was brilliant in it and my heart goes out to him and his family in this tragic time in their lives.
But if they do go ahead with it I’m sure that they could find another actor to play Link as Zac has said numerous times that he wants to move on from musicals for a while and you can’t really blame him for that he’s now 21 after all so it’s only natural he would want to give meater roles a try and good luck to him. Can’t wait to see 17 Again for me though I think Matthew Perry is brilliant but have to admit it looks like Zac has done good from the clips I have seen so me and my daughter will be off to see it.
I’m sure that Zac will make the right descision he seems to know in what direction he wants his career to go.

Also as some have mentioned on other sites, me included, that all this talk right now about HS2 is Shankman & co trying to drum up interest or support or both for this movie. I figured he had seen how much against the movie fans were and felt he had to get support going for it so hence the attention but with Hollywood Fan’s explanation it also seems he needs to prove to the suits in Hollywood that a sequel would turn a generous profit—I guess Shankman needs to work a lot harder on that one. Maybe that is why he’s thinking about getting rid of some of the big-named stars who were in the first movie. Well, if 17 Again and MAOW do well maybe Zac’s asking price will go up enough where they won’t be able to afford him either. LOL
Wow, I never thought that I would say this, but I honestly hope this movie does not make it any further than it already has. If Brittany Snow is not in it, I won’t be seeing it. More importantly though, I won’t be seeing it if they just up and subtract Michelle Pfeiffer from the cast list. After all, she is the main reason why I went to see the original.
Honestly, I hope that they make a sequel to “Mamma Mia” before they even consider this film. Obviously, “Mamma Mia” has done a lot better, and not only in the box office either. Besides, it would be amazing to see Meryl Streep again anyway, of course.
Okay, seriously everyone needs to chill out.
Zac has not yet confirmed for this movie and people need to stop namedropping him just to get a hit.

5.i’m not worried about zanessa’s relationship because they will stick together and prove the people wrong who believe that they will break-up. they are right for each other and if they do decide to split up, i 100% doubt it would be anything to do with nikki, it would be their own choice.

I seriously doubt if Zac and Vanessa move in together that it will be broadcast by the two of them as I’m sure they will feel that it is nobody’s business but theirs. And you know what? They will be right. One thing they don’t need is MORE scrutiny by fans and foes. It is more likely they will just keep everyone guessing and that way it will keep the speculation down.
Also, Zac and Brittany are very good friends—they truly are and Brittany doesn’t have to take every opportunity she gets to say so. She was at Zac’s birthday party that was planned by Vanessa and she was also at Vanessa’s party last month. SO, I would surmise that she is a good friend to BOTH Zac and Vanessa and obviously keeps in touch with them away from a film set which means she is no thread to Vanessa nor does Vanessa act that she is worried. BTW, you might as well get used to seeing Zac playing opposite of other women besides Vanessa as he is an up and coming actor who is a heartthrob. That means he will be doing romantic scenes. In MAOW he will be seen opposite of Claire Danes in a romantic way and even in 17 Again there will be a kissing scene with his leading lady (Lesley Mann) there too. He kissed Brittany more than once in Hairspray and look! he and Vanessa are together more than ever. So just stop getting so outraged in the thought that Zac might be with someone else in a movie. But, no, the majority don’t want him to do HS2 for many VALID reasons.

Zac shouldnt sign to do this. I thought he wanted to get away from musicals, so HS2 is a mistake. They need to get someone else, and defenitely no Nikki near Zac. She needs to realize he has a GF he’s been with for over 3 years now, and he loves her.

I am awere that zac and vanessa have a private reletionship and I respect that, but when/if they do move in together, the world would know, you should know that, so when I would hear it I would know that their reletionship is still going strong, thats why I wondered.

I bet if Zac does it he and Nikki will be all over each other like lastime when promoting .Zac is a bicth in my eyes and so is Nikki they can go to hell together.All through hsm3 promotion he looked like he was pissed or upset and treating Vanessa like **** …..He probably is pretending to be happy with her so he won’t hurt her and seem like a jerk to bad he already is.Vanessa is VERY forgiving espacially after that NASTY kiss on national T.V. and him holding hands with Nikki at a PREMIERE during her scandal.
