Lucas Grabeel is New Moon’s Alec?
If Dakota Fanning nabs the role of Jane in the much-anticipated New Moon, who exactly would play Alec, Jane’s bloodsucker brother?
Entertainment Weekly is suggesting High School Musical’s Lucas Grabeel for the part. Alec is described as a pale boy who could be Jane’s twin. In Stephenie Meyer’s book, she describes him:”His hair was darker, and his lips were not as full, but he was just as lovely.”

Interesting choice, although he does fit the description…I think he’d be great for the part…a good choice to break him free from the HSM mold…although he did have a role in the popular film MILK.
I can see he and Dakota Fanning as being brother and sister, they both have that pale skin, blue eyes, and not so full lips…yeah, I’m convinced…I wish them both the best for these roles.

I was pretty against having Vanessa in the cast but I have to admit - if they definitely cast Dakota, I think Lucas would be PERFECT to play her brother. I’d be excited to see what the two of them could bring to the film.

I agree with you #36. I actually think that the actors on twilight sucked with an exception of one. I think was lucas and Vanessa and the rest of HSM cast pulled of in their movies, was better than Twilight. These guys aren’t needing to prove anything to the public by getting in another series. I actually hope none of them doit. We already know Vanessa was never even considering it…she has come out and said so.

Lucas just took part in an exceptional film, called Milk which has gone to the Oscars. Twilight is not the type of movie or franchise he should associate himself with.

well obviously they’re not going to keep their blond hair. We live in the 21st century, and Ill bet my life theyll do something about it. Chris says he went with his gut feeling when considering Dakota Fanning up for the role, I dont think theres nothing wrong with that. Lucas G. certainly is a considerable match to play the role of Alec, but I agree that they can do better. They need to take more time, and search all the possibilities. And whats so wrong about being in hsm? What does that have to do with anything? Im not nesessarily a fan of disney and all, but you know that they deserve a fair chance. Equal opportunities takes a big role in the casting of this movie. I hope they choose someone wisely, and Im sure whatever they go with, and I hope theyll stick to it no matter what we think. I cant wait for the movie to come out, and Im happy that Dakota is a huge twilight series fan.

Interesting…Lucas for the role, and even though I don’t think any HSM actor/actress should be in NM, Lucas fits Alec perfectly and he is probably the only one who I wouldn’t mind having in the movies. He is weird enough and he is not all over Disney with music videos or sitcoms.

They’re moving on to other things and you will hear more from them. Some of you Twilighters are really being hypocritical. Can I just say that Lucas has been in other movies apart from High School Musical. So fair enough you don’t want Vanessa in it but Lucas is perfect for roles like this! He has been in an oscar nominated movie and he has many other non-disney related movies coming out. So STOP hating on him being considered a role in the movie!
