Lucas Grabeel is New Moon’s Alec?
If Dakota Fanning nabs the role of Jane in the much-anticipated New Moon, who exactly would play Alec, Jane’s bloodsucker brother?
Entertainment Weekly is suggesting High School Musical’s Lucas Grabeel for the part. Alec is described as a pale boy who could be Jane’s twin. In Stephenie Meyer’s book, she describes him:”His hair was darker, and his lips were not as full, but he was just as lovely.”
People even has a poll up to cast your vote. Lucas is in the lead with 38%.

All the people who are saying “Disney” stars are ging to ruin twilight seriously need to get checked in to the hospital. I swear I hope you people are children otherwise you have no excuse.
Lucas just took part in an exceptional film, called Milk which has gone to the Oscars. Twilight is not the type of movie or franchise he should associate himself with.
twilight is just one hit wonder… or two hit wonders… haha with its sequel ( talking about movies here not book )……..
ALL hsm cast is not Disney Channel’s kid except maybe Ashley but she is also breaking out slowly……
if you don’t want any disney people in it, you must also include Kiera Knightley, Johnny Deep, Adam Sandler, and lots of A lister.
They work for Disney multiple of times..
Who cares if Lucas was in the High School Musical movies? He’s an amazing actor & that just means that he’s getting more successful. I think he would play Alec very well. I’m all for it.

Why are they saying people with like blonde hair? Jane is supposed to have light brown and Alec’s is supposed to be darker than hers slightly. And um they arent brother and sister arent they together? And he is way to like peppy to play like a dark vamp.

well obviously they’re not going to keep their blond hair. We live in the 21st century, and Ill bet my life theyll do something about it. Chris says he went with his gut feeling when considering Dakota Fanning up for the role, I dont think theres nothing wrong with that. Lucas G. certainly is a considerable match to play the role of Alec, but I agree that they can do better. They need to take more time, and search all the possibilities. And whats so wrong about being in hsm? What does that have to do with anything? Im not nesessarily a fan of disney and all, but you know that they deserve a fair chance. Equal opportunities takes a big role in the casting of this movie. I hope they choose someone wisely, and Im sure whatever they go with, and I hope theyll stick to it no matter what we think. I cant wait for the movie to come out, and Im happy that Dakota is a huge twilight series fan.
oh, give them a fair chance, hsm was a big hit, and it shouldnt make you prejudice someone considered for this movie.
Having these people play the part is not right.they should stick to disney. i have read all of these books like more than 8 times each.i just cannot see them as the parts. i am sorry but a lot of peole will agree with me. for jane, alec, leah, seth, quil, emily and all the others they should get new actors.give other people a chance to be famous!!!! We have a lot of talented people in the world, and who knows, these people can be the next johnny depp or angelina jolie!!! For alec and jane, they could hold auditions for actual twins!!!

First of all the people in HSM are NOT apart of Disney more like Miley and Selena ARE apart of them and represent them .The HSM crew just happened to star in a movie FOR disney not because they’re APART of it.So you whining ‘omg it’s gonna ruin twilight’ bicthes can shut the help up. Interesting…Lucas for the role, and even though I don’t think any HSM actor/actress should be in NM, Lucas fits Alec perfectly and he is probably the only one who I wouldn’t mind having in the movies. He is weird enough and he is not all over Disney with music videos or sitcoms.
why are people ruling out lucas JUST because he was in high school musical? he’s a talented actor and that’s what they need. i’m sure when they auditioned people, they didn’t go “oh, sorry you were in high school musical. bye.”
i don’t believe vanessa could play the part she was rumoured to do, but that’s based on her acting, not on her being in hsm.
