Lucy Hale Auditioned For New Moon
Privileged’s Lucy Hale just dished to Twist magazine that not only did Dakota Fanning audition for Jane in New Moon, but she did too!
The 19-year-old actress shared with the mag, “Well, I did read [for the role of Jane]. We had some talks about it. But I think they just offered it to Dakota Fanning, the role I was interested in. Which is great - I’m a huge fan of her! So, I think she’ll probably take that. And I mean, as of right now, I’m not sure if it’s going to work out. But I’m definitely still going to see it!”

I agree with #21, but she’s technically not that much Disney. I think she’d be better as Jane than Dakota. She’s 19 which seems a little more realistic that Dakota and they’d be able to use her for longer hours. Always a plus

also i dont like the fact that this part was just given to dakota its very unfair lucy hale has mentioned how much she loves these books and she even auditioned for the role of alice in twilight, so i think she deserves this part for being a dedicated fan to the book, good actress and a perfect description of jane

I Would love for Lucy Hale to play the role of Jane. After ready the first three books of the Twilight Saga i can’t imagine Dakota Fanning playing the role of Jane. I mean anyone who has read the books, would probably agree that the role of Jane doesn’t suit Dakota Fanning.
Although, some people may agree on Dakota Fanning playing the role, I just can’t, picture her playing a vampire, just as the same way i couldn’t picture Vanessa Hudgens playing a werewolf. ( I heard she auditioned). I would like for them to get actors who are not well known, like they did for the first movie. All in all, my vote would have to be for Lucy Hale not Dakota!!!

I think Lucy Hale would make a great Jane! I love Dakota she’s a great actress but I’m a little iffy on it because I mean Dakota is the same age as me and I imagined Jane to be a bit more grown up. I don’t know I havent seen any of Dakota’s new stuff, I plan on seeing Push though. Anyway I love Lucy Hale in Priviledged and I could see her as Jane with blonde hair and what not. Either way I’m seeing New Moon no matter what, Taylor Lautner is a hottie.

When the question of who should play jane came up, people automatically said dakota fanning because she is the most well known serious actress in that age area.

In case anyone here tries to put out that they chose actors who are “not well-known” for the movies, the only thing I can really say back is you haven’t seen a lot of GOOD movies then because the actors that they picked have been in fantastic movies before twilight and are “well-known” in their own right. Kristen Stewart was certainly well-known for her brilliant acting in the Panic Room and Speak and likewise, Robert Pattinson did wonderful in the Harry Potter series. I personally believe these movies are mainstream enough to be well-known. So, I will retort back by saying Twilight DID hire actors who are well-known, not due to their celebrity or popularity status but rather well-known for their talent. So, if you’re going to judge actors based on their popularity status, that Dakota Fanning is too popular to be in Twilight, then that just shows how superficial it all really is, right? We’re looking for people who can accurately portray the characters in the books and DO IT WELL. Likewise, Lucy Hale IS QUITE WELL-KNOWN, having been in A LOT of shows, proving that people’s perception of popular and well-known is just plain whacked.
However they decide, I’m still watching the movie because I know they will pick great actors, whoever they may be.

I love Lucy Hale, and she played such an excellent role in Privileged, but I don’t know if she’d have fit the role of Jane, although I would have loved her to be in New Moon! I hope she keeps auditioning and maybe she’ll be in Eclipse or Breaking Dawn
Dakota is beautiful. Lucy Hale is ok but her forehead is huge and distracting. Well her head is big and her eyes start way too low on her head. The vampires are suppose to be beautiful.
