Miley Cyrus Apologizes for ‘Goofy’ Pictures
Miley Cyrus hung out with her friends recently and took a picture that some people find to be offensive. Still in Nashville, the 16-year-old Disney starlet responded by posting this entry on MileyWorld:
“I can’t believe all of the silly STUFF that has been put out in the press this week! It really makes me sad that people want to tear other people down just for the sake of magazine sells and hits on websites! Unfortunately, it seems like BAD is what sells!
“I’ve also been told there are some people upset about some pictures taken of me with friends making goofy faces! Well, I’m sorry if those people looked at those pics and took them wrong and out of context! In NO way was I making fun of any ethnicity! I was simply making a goofy face. When did that become newsworthy? It seems someone is trying to make something out of nothing to me. If that would of been anyone else, it would of been overlooked! I definitely feel like the press is trying to make me out as the new ‘BAD GIRL’! I feel like now that Britney [Spears] is back on top of her game again, they need someone to pick on! Lucky me! Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know what is on my heart. You guys know me and have been by my side every step of the way!
“You guys know my heart and know the most important things to me are my friends, family, fans, and GOD! In NO WAY do I want to disappoint any of you! But, when I have made mistakes in the past, I feel like I’ve owned up to them and apologized. Anyway, I really wish everyone would stop focusing on my personal life and get back to focusing on what I love! Music and Acting! Hopefully, I will be touring again this fall! I think that she is like Britney Spears in the fact that there are constant pictures of her out and a bout. Everywhere she goes, there are pictures of her. It was the same way with Britney in late 2007/early 2008. I am not saying that she should not have a life and stay at home all day, but do you really need to go out to eat every single day or go shopping everyday.
And she should have known that when she got famous that everyone would be in her personal life. When you are famous, you really don’t have a private life. So she really shouldn’t be crying about it or getting upset.
Exuse me Jonas Brothers arent perfect either. media is bugging miley but they will bug selena and they kind of buged demi already

I love Miley but how can she expect to make a “funny” face like that and not have people take it out of context. Everyone knows that when people make faces like that with their eyes it usually has to do with asians. People get offened. Therefore it is newsworthy. It’s really not that shocking… I was personally a little bit offended at first (being an asian myself) even though I know she didn’t mean anything of it.
And I hate to say it but people aren’t going to stop focusing on your personal life anytime soon. You’re a huge celebritiy. On top of that you’re dating someone who is like 20 years old, plus the whole Vanity Fair thing & all the personal “racy” photos and now this. What do you expect? I think Miley needs a serious reality check. When you’re a big star like that people don’t just focus on your music and acting. They wait for you to mess up and when you do they blow it out of proportion. She should be use to it by now. I’m a big fan of Miley, really, but she left normal a long time ago so she should stop asking for it.

I don’t think anyone is deliberately trying to “tear” her down. It is time that Miley realizes that a lot of young girls do look up to her. CLEARLY, it was offensive to some people. What is a “goofy” picture to her may be offensive and hurtful to others. A lot of the “bad” media that Miley gets is her own doing.
I understand that the media may be a little pushy about her personal life. But, the fact is, she IS in the spotlight. If she can’t handle the heat, then she should stay the heck out of the kitchen.

Um, a “goofy face”? Either she’s very ignorant or she’s pretending to be. I don’t care what she does in her personal life, but she should at least be responsible enough to own up for her actions. I think that she knew perfectly well what she was doing in those pictures and whether or not she meant them in an offensive way or a humorous way, she should at least acknowledge that it was a racial slur.

I personally was on the receiving end of many slanty-eyed faces when I was in elementary school, although that is not a reason why I am commenting about this issue. I don’t find the picture to be particularly offensive to myself, but the fact that so many people are taking this with a matter-of-fact attitude.
We learn not to say certain words about different races, but why is it alright to make these gestures about Asians when obviously some Asians are offended by it. Just because one Asian may be alright with their friends making these faces doesn’t mean that ALL Asians shouldn’t find it offensive.
On several different websites I am shocked to read comments that state that it is “ok” to make these faces because “everyone made them when they were a kid”. Just because these faces were made by some children at one point or another, does NOT mean that it’s not offensive to others.
Secondly, I highly doubt most of the people in that picture are “children”. Her boyfriend, for one, is 20 years old. And if Miley is considered a child, where are her parents? They seem to not be teaching her to grow up into a responsible adult.
Also, what was the point of her bringing up Britney into this whole issue? Sorry Miley, but you are no Britney. And most of the unwanted media attention is brought upon by yourself. You know you’re in the spotlight, so understand that you will be put under a lot of scrutiny. Stop whining about it and get over yourself.
