Vanessa Hudgens looks like she’s ready for spring as she loads her trunk with groceries from Ralph’s on Tuesday afternoon (March 22) in Studio City, Calif.
The 20-year-old “Hook It Up” hottie is in talks to star in Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch. The flick is set in the 1950s and follows a girl, Babydoll, confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather, who plans to have her lobotomized in five days. Vanessa would star as Blondie alongside Abbie Cornish, Evan Rachel Wood and Emma Stone.
Amanda Seyfried just recently dropped out of the flick.

Personally, I don’t think she should do the film. Yes, it would be great for her exposure, and showing her acting ability… but as a fan and mom, I’m not having it.

While your opinion makes sense in the way that a lot of young girls look up to her, this movie is a way for her fan base to expand, and if this reaches older people who become fans it will not only make her career more stable, but it will help the sales of whatever albums she puts out in the future. I’m sure that if she takes this role she’ll still do more family-oriented movies like Bandslam too.

I don’t really understand you’re reasoning. Vanessa’s first post hsm film will be a family friendly one-Bandslam. You’re kid can watch that. Not every single role she does can be for kid fans, especially those who will easily move on to the next tweenie star. As for Sucker Punch it won’t be released for some while. She’s also an adult, she should not wait up to ten years to do films of that nature because some people are squeamish about it. And not every role she does will be something every single fan will love, if you and your fellow moms don’t like these type of movies, then don’t watch. Wait for a different project. @aw: I DO care and want the best for V, as if I known her personally. And, ‘Bandslam’ was filmed BRFORE HSM3, so she was still under the Disney umbrella, and had to choose wisely.
But as far as gaining new fans to support album sales… that’s quite a strectch. I know a mom who only puts up with V because her kids like her, she only watches the movies, buys the cd’s, and mags because of her children… So my point being, when the young ones can’t watch her films and people (haters) are bashing her, who’s gonna watch her movies then?

It’s called gaining fans of a different group, one that is not fueled entirely by children. Those who rely solely on that forever don’t make it far. Basically what Katty said. Being able to the do the movie would also about expanding her resume, displaying a different range of acting abilities, working with important people etc. And it really isn’t a huge risk because this movie would not be solely her. She is not the “main” lead.

Cassidy, while I understand your concern for the maturity of this film, by the time this film comes out Van will be 21 at least, maybe 22. She will have matured way beyond a children fan base. She can’t remain there forever. I think Van has made very wise decisions so far about her career. She has been thrown a lot of opportunities and has passed on a few. Have faith that she is making wise decisions.
If she does this, it will completely reverse her fan base, which for longevity purposes has to happen. Remember that this is no different from Anna Hathaway movie from Ella Enchanted to Brokaback and she took her top off. That was a huge controversy too, but look at her career now.

Yeah, like Emma Roberts. I don’t really like her, but while she is doing movies like Hotel For Dogs, she also did an indie flick where she looses her virginity, and people still respect her. You have to have more than one fan base to remain a star for a long time. Like Brad Bit with movies like Mr. And Mrs. Smith, to Benjamin Button, and that Bast-erds movies, he does a lot of diff things and he has a thriving career.

I agree with most that say Vanessa should take this role. This not only open her to a different set of movie fans but also help her shake the Gabriella pesona and prove she’s a versatile actor. I’m just glad that there are people out there that see Vanessa’s potential. I am also loving the direction her career is taking. Regarding her younger fans, I don’t think this will alienate them as they are not suppose to watch an R rated movie anyway. Vanessa will have a variety of other movies that will cater to different sets of audiences as her career progresses. I’m really excited about this and hope we’ll have confirmation soon.

What I like most about these pictures is that they show Vanessa pushing the cart and unloading the groceries herself. Not that it would have been a big deal if she had someone help her out but you know there would be comments like “God, she doesn’t have that many groceries, but she has to have some one from the store come out with her. She really needs to get over herself.”

My thoughts here. Vanessa is grown up, your kids who used to worship the HSM crowd are growing up too. If Vanessa were to take her time getting into more mature films, there are so many young actresses who’ll overtake her and she’ll just get left behind. What you are asking is for her to be a late bloomer. If this is the case then she should have just stayed behind with Disney Productions and played safe. She is on the way out to discover her potential as a serious actress and I am all for it.

Just a little clarification here, Vanessa has not had a thread all to herself for some time so that is one reason for all the comments. Also, you need to notice how many THREADS there are for Zac over the past 2-3 days about basically the very same thing—his promotion of 17 Again and the photocalls he has had all occurring in Paris. There is not much difference there except what he is wearing. We have not been given any new information to discuss and some of the threads have come within a few hours of each other so people have started commenting on one thread and another will pop up and people move onto that one. SO, in other words, count just how many “hits” Zac has gotten on basically the same information and you will see he is getting primarily the same amount as Vanessa—maybe a little less but not all that much. The same would be happening if we kept getting threads of Vanessa one after another in less that 36 hours and only one of Zac. All Zac hits would then be on just one thread too.
OK, just to clarify my previous comment which may be confusing to some, since Sunday the post we have of Zac leaving LAX to go to Paris—and that is only 3 days ago—up to the last comment that we just got about him arriving in London, Zac has gotten around 500 hits. So, I don’t think anyone can say Zac doesn’t get his fair share of comments either. But you can’t comment on every thread when it is about the same thing! People keep moving to the newest one.

Ok, listen, I did not make my comments to challenge anyone. I have been around on these boards for nearly 2 years and those who have been around know I am as much a Vanessa fan as a Zac fan. I was just pointing out something in this case that many had not taken into consideration. There have been many times when Vanessa has been the one getting the threads and we haven’t seen anything on Zac. This time we have had only one thread on Vanessa in a very long time so it stands to reason we will get a lot of hits for her. I’m not complaining and yes she generally gets even more hits than Zac.
However, it has been pointed out many times—when they were only getting threads on the main board and there was no JJJ—that at that time one reason why she got more comments was because people tended to post insulting comments and the fans would come back full force to defend her. When Zac had a thread during that time most people could only comment on how hot he was or how they like what he was doing, etc, because at that time he stirred up no controversy in anything that was going on with him.
So, there is NO reason to try to cause trouble over my comment. Just making a point, so get off of it.

Rest easy everybody Zanessa is very much alive and going veryyy strong and Nessa always wears the ring that matches Zac’s. I’ve known these two beautiful kids personally ever since HSM aired and they are like my own kids,in fact Nessa calls me her second mom. She is such a warm,loving,beautiful caring young lady and I love her to death,both of them in fact. She looks tired because she’s been working on a movie very hard and she was shopping because Zac was coming home from London as he arrived back in LA today. He was totally exhausted. Nessa is a beautiful girl and she’s a fantastic singer,dancer,and actress,otherwise Disney would not have kept her!!! So think twice before you slander her name. I’m 55 years old and a former police officer’s wife and I consider it an honor to have these two wonderful kids in my life!
