Vanessa Hudgens: ‘Beastly’ Beauty
Vanessa Hudgens is bringing a modern day Beauty to the big screen!
The 20-year-old former High School Musical sweetheart is set to play the fair maiden in the upcoming flick, Beastly, ET reports.
The movie will be set in Manhattan and the “Beast” is a handsome rich kid with a mean streak. When he ditches a date, the yet-to-be cast character turns out to be a witch who curses him to become everything he hates. The grotesque transformation leaves him with the seemingly impossible task of finding true love to break the ugly spell.
The film will shoot in Montreal in Summer/Fall 2009.
Vanessa has also been confirmed to star alongside Emily Browning and Jamie Chung in Zach Snyder’s Sucker Punch.

Alex Finn who wrote the book usually has gritter, tougher way of telling stories about serious young adult issues so it should be interesting to see him take on these issues in a fantasy.
This won’t be your normal B&B fantasy by a mile.

Same reason that Romeo an Juliet has been done a million different ways. Cinderella, snow white, West Side Story. They are classics that should be retold. In a world where there is so much hate and ugliness we all need to be reminded to look deeper inside a person to discover what they have to offer.
the story needs to be told, so people can learn what it means to really love someone other than themself. Sad that you can’t see that.
Van, I love you. Your career choices are brilliant. You are taking your young fans with you while with Beastly, while you transition to an adult role in SP all the while enlarging your fan base. you are brilliant and well thought out. i am so glad your camp knows how to keep their mouth shut and they don’t let things slip till it’s time. Another mark that you don’t use your fame to exploit yourself. good for you. We can’t wait to see what you become.
