Mitchel Musso takes his seat at the Radio Disney studios on Friday afternoon (May 15) ready to talk all about his new music in Burbank, Calif.

The 17-year-old actor/musician dished on his tunes, his hair and Oliver Oken. Check it out:

On his new hair do: “Right now, it’s flat-ironed because I just did a photo shoot this morning. Normally, it just flips out (like it used to). I cut off about 5 inches and dyed it jet black. It’s thined out and so much easier to wash. It’s so nice! It’s so much easier to maintain.”

On Disney’s new project, “Friends For Change”: “We just shot a music video (for it). It was me and every other Disney Channel star…29 people. It was Jonas’, Demi, Selena, Miley, Emily, Moises, Sterling, Brenda, Tiffany, Jason, literally everybody on the Channel. Plus four Disney XD stars. It’s all about making a difference. A lot was about going green; Me knowing that there are problems out there and seeing them for myself, living them and hearing about them; knowing that everyone was starting this program, I wanted to be a part of it. I think it’s a great idea.”

On recording and filming the music video for “Hey”: “Recording the song in the booth was super fun but filming the actual music video was sick. The concept was super, super cool. It was filmed on the street. It was almost like a little New York street. There were four or five buildings that were completely different. There was a wooden one and a brick one and the whole music video is just walking down the street…over and over again. It was fun though, they brought in an old-school fire hydrant. It was a white one. They had benches and newstands.”

On how his Hannah Montana character, Oliver Oken, has grown over the years: “I don’t know, what’s changed? I told the writers on how I wanted to be a musician and that so immediately, Oliver got a band and started doing a lot of music on the show. That was a really cool change for me.”
