Vanessa Hudgens strikes a sexy pose in this shot from the July 2009 issue of Instyle UK.
The 20-year-old actress dished to the mag about her new house, her parents and the excitement about her upcoming role in Sucker Punch. Check it:
On her parents not wanting her to become an actress: “All the rejection is tough and discouraging. It’s so dog-eat-dog, and who would want to subject their girl to that world? But it was just something that I loved so much. Man, I can’t imagine myself away from the business.”
On not living with boyfriend Zac Efron: “I’m young. I should have my own place. I think that everybody should buy their own home on their own.”
On upcoming movie, Sucker Punch: “It’s totally my Angelina Jolie part. People are either going to love me for doing it or hate me for doing it, but I’m very excited.”

Frankly—and this is someone older speaking here—IF they are not ready to get married yet then it is the best thing for them to have separate places. It gives them space when they need it and does not put as much pressure on them as a couple. They can also have a measure of privacy. IF the want to stay together at night nobody needs to know and the same goes for if they want to spend time apart. They are under too much scrutiny as it is and this gives them a space to be who they want to be.
And for those who want to say it is Zac who does not want to settle down, maybe you should think again. But my guess is, they have taken each step of their relationship slowly and apparently have not asked anyone’s advice on it or cared what anyone else has thought. That method has seemed to work for them very well thus far so I’m sure they are not going to let pressure push them into something like marriage before they BOTH are sure that’s what they want.
And those who cannot figure out what Zac was saying when she first said he was not going to marry until 40 if at all and then said well, maybe 30, doesn’t have a very realistic few of things. People use words like never or always all the time and they don’t mean that at all. It’s like someone saying “I’m going to kill you” and that’s not the truth at all. That comment which Zac made sounded like “We’re not ready to get married. It will be a while. Will you all mind your own business and quite pestering us with those questions. You’ll know if we are going to get married once we are married”. I don’t know why people make a big deal of it. We’ve all said things like that when upset. Some of you actually think he meant he didn’t want kids until he is 40 too when he answered Corbin’s question that one time. It was another way of saying, I’m not ready to be a parent now so don’t keep hounding me about it. However, yes, I will want to someday.” It doesn’t take Einstein to figure it out.

It would also help if some people would quit being so sensitive and trying to find fault with what a person says instead of taking their words for what “drives” them. She never meant it as any slight to anyone, only that she is driven to want to dress something up or to make it look “unique” and different than what most people are content with. There are some people when sewing like to add a ruffle or some kind of lace or other embellishment where some people would leave it plain as they don’t want to take that much time and trouble with doing something “extra”. That does not make that person self-absorbed—just creative or a little more aesthetic in what they see.

People find the weirdest things to comment on. I don’t get how it was offensive that she said she’s not content with just wearing t-shirts and jeans because she loves to experiment with fashion. She was answering that question for her. She didn’t say everyone should do the same. She didn’t say everyone should wear labels or buy clothes at a certain price tag. In fact in the same interview she stated she didn’t care about labels.
In my opinion, this was a great interview of her. Props to Instyle for asking most questions about her career than her personal life. Love her answers and I particularly love what Zack Schnyder said about her.
By the way, I think this should also be posted on JJ site as the magazine is more geared towards adults.

My work requires me to travel extensively and every time after a flight I would be very exhausted. I can just imagine how much more difficult for those ppls that need to “work it” right after the flight touchdown.

For me, she just epitomizes quiet strength. She’s very focused but she doesn’t have to make a show of being focused and driven, she just is.
In the same way, she’s independent without having to go out of her way to prove that she’s an independent strong woman. She’s shown that she can be devoted to a relationship and value it without being swallowed by it.
I love her last quote. It puts into perspective her determination not to acknowledge nor respond to negativity or trivialities. She can put her energy to better use.

I think this is such a better photoshoot than the one she did in Brazil. I was disappointed in that one—not that Vanessa wasn’t beautiful but I just thought than magazine would have had something more sultry or sexy or something—kind of like this one.

I laughed about the organized thing she has going on. That is how I arrange my closet—not so much as I did when I was Vanessa’s age but when i was her age I was in far better SHAPE and clothes were a lot more fun. LOL No wonder she and Zac do not live together full-time. He’s admitted that he is a disaster area when it comes to cleaning and being tidy. That may be something he will need to work on! However, I have seen that so many times in really tight loving relationships—one is really neat and organized and one will be a total spaz and not be able to keep track of anything. Hopefully Vanessa will be able to rub off on Zac in this area.

No worries, my pleasure. Yeah, the way she organizes her closet is pretty funny but I love that she is that organized at her age. I wasn’t at her age, though I am now.
lol, it’s actually better when it’s the lady that is organized not the guy (think Michelle and Barack!), in later years, it’s better for the home and for the children, believe me, also there is something lovable about guys that have to be ‘taught where to put their socks’ .
But that is usually the norm, opposites attract, it would be creepy if she was dating someone who was an organized freak like her. Zac will learn how to avoid pushing her buttons if he’s not already but I doubt he’ll ever become that organized. That will take away all the fun.

I was thinking the same thing when it comes to having the lady be the organized one, etc. My mom was really organized and even though my dad was not a “slob” he just left it all up to my mom to put things away, etc, even though he tried not to make a big mess. LOL He tried to maintain any mess to one spot so to make it “easier” for her when she would straighten things up!
For me, my husband and I have been married for 25 years and that’s pretty much how things have worked around here—but he liked how his closet was organized and it didn’t take him long to get the “hang” of that. He’s gotten pretty good at things so now he can pick up after me since I too exhausted most of the time. LOL

Vanessa Hudgens is one young star who is different from her peers. Her beauty is not the usual Barbie type of celebrities in Hollywood, that’s why she is easily noticed among the others. Vanessa has been very vocal in her admiration to Angelina Jolie even in her past interviews. Nothing is wrong with that if she is emulating the person she admires. If she likes to do the career route of Angelina, so be it. If it makes her happy, satisfied & inspired, then go. At least she’s taking the risk in making some changes in her career & in her life, a good indication of an independent woman just like Angelina. If she ever failed, at least she tried. Better to have failed than never to have tried at all. If she succeed, much better. The important thing, everything she does is her own decision with the guidance of her parents & manager.

I also find Vanessa an intelligent & honest woman (again, just like Angelina). Her answers are not “showbiz” but straight to the point, not “sweety-sweety” kind of response.
