Vanessa Hudgens Gets Sucker Punched
Vanessa Hudgens will be hopping from one side of Canada to the other this year as she’ll soon be joining Emily Browning and Abbie Cornish in Vancouver to film Sucker Punch.
The 20-year-old actress, who’s currently in Montreal filming Beastly with hunk Alex Pettyfer, dished to MTV that she couldn’t be more thrilled with the role of Blondie.
Vanessa shared, “I’m extremely excited. When I read about the project I was like, ‘That’d be great, but its not going to happen’…and now it actually is!”
Director Zack Snyder is equally as thrilled that Vanessa is going to be in his movie. He told InStyle UK, “She understood immediately what I was trying to do with the movie and has the acting chops to pull it off; her dancing background gives her the physicality to be an action star; and let’s face it, she is also beautiful.”
Sucker Punch is the story of young girl, Baby Doll (Browning) who is institutionalized by an abusive stepfather. In order to survive in this new setting, the girl retreats into a fantasy world of her own creation. It all seems innocent — if exceedingly dark — enough, until the imaginary place becomes a tool which she uses to plan an escape. Jena Malone and Jamie Chung also star.

Am glad Vanessa auditioned for the role and that it wasn’t handed to her on a platter and also that she was first choice for Blondie. Zack sees the potential in her, period.
I can’t think of anyone I’d like to see in an action flick more than Vanessa. I think she’ll be amazing and totally sexy!! Can’t wait!!

With her positive attitude, her ability to focus she’ll go very far in this business as long as she stays faithfull and true to herself and not get caught up with all the hype in the business. My prayer for her is that she cross paths with honest, true, authentic and people with dignity in her promising career for she has alot of unique talent to offer.

I didn’t care much for the Watchmen, so I hope that Sucker Punch will be a much better movie…it will be interesting to see if Vanessa is the right choice for this role.

about that interview on MTV where she would like to play ”CATWOMAN”.I think that would be a great part for her. In ”THE THUNDERBIEDS” she had cat eyes.IN ”HSM12and3 they were all ”WIDCATS.” Now I would love to see her be CATWOMAN”in the movies, I really think she would be great ifor this part. It would be fantastic!
#67(athena)…Accordingly to Zach Synder, Vanessa must be the right person for Sucker Punch, because he has choosen her for Blonde. The choices are usually up to the directors/producers for all movie/film roles. I always believe that Vanessa is more suited for action movies anyway.
I have to say, I am very excited for this film. It’s a chance for Vanessa to grow as an actress and pick up new skills. Not only that, but it is pathway for Vanessa to become more of a mainstream actress(not only teen related projects).
Some of things I have heard about it so far sound completely out there. Like a brothel in an insane asylum and machine guns. This make me even more excited because it is usually the most risky concepts that are the most captivating on screen.
The fact that Zach Synder has chosen Vanessa for this role says a lot. He obviously sees potential in her otherwise he wouldn’t take his chances with a former Disney star. She seems to completely understand how hard she’s going to have to work to prove herself to skeptics who think this is way beyond her league.
She has taken the right steps in gradually moving her career forward. She has made very smart decisions including taking a break from music. I was very happy to hear that because I think that is where she needs to focus all of her attention. I think acting projects will determine her longevity in this industry. I’m keeping my fingers crossed in the hopes that this will be a fantastic movie.
