Vanessa Hudgens: From Brainiac to Blondie
Vanessa Hudgens will be heading from Montreal to Vancouver very soon to start filming on her next movie, Sucker Punch.
Sucker Punch director Zack Snyder recently dished to MTV that he was surprised by her audition. He shared, “She rehearsed, she did the audition for the scene. I wasn’t sure at first – [the casting people] were like ‘Oh, Vanessa’s coming’ and I was ‘Oh, okay - that sounds cool’ but I didn’t know what to think. Then I saw the tape and I literally went, ‘Wow, she’s good. She’s really good.’ Then I talked to her about what she’d have to do.”
He continued, “You’re going to see her shooting machine guns, fighting…we sat her down for her physical evaluation, and she was really athletic. It’ll allow her to stretch herself and do whatever she wants, and not be too exposed by the movie - but also, on the other hand, do things that people have never seen her do.”
Sucker Punch, also starring Emily Browning and Abbie Cornish, is set to hit theaters in 2010.

Great for our gal, again, she did things the old fashion way and auditioned. Like the things said about Vanessa it only goes to prove that she is very serious about her career and she has the quality and the staying power. I can honestly say that she has graduated from the Disney profile. Excited, can’t wait for the movie, also for Bandslam and Beastly.

yep..winning the hearts over with her sheer talent. All on her own. She just has such a go get her mentality that you can’t help but think that she can do anything. So glad that Snyder is excited about her role in this. Him choosing her just shows her ability to bring even the greatest in hollywood to her attention.

As a die-hard fan, I’m aware there will always be an element of bias in my appraisal but darn, it feels so good to hear a talented director of Zack’s caliber give an objective opinion that is so complimentary towards Van.
You know, I have no compulsion whatsoever to defend her against naysayers. If I do so, that would be purely for my own entertainment or to relieve my boredom.
Clearly, where it counts, within the industry, her talent, potential and personality are speaking for her. That’s what matters in the long run.
People can blab with praise or hate in the blogs till kingdom come to no avail. What counts is the one opinion that will give one the kind of role they’re looking for.
Bless the dear girl. That’s what her focus is on. She certainly has no time or energy to waste on the ‘nonsense of it all’. Hopefully, this will be the first of many. Can’t wait!

@sammantha: How are you judging that Vanessa was awfull in HSM, my dear if she was that awfull why was she loved by so many and let me beg to differ it was not because of Zac, he was part of the team of actors that made the movie. Her character was shy and brainiac and my honest opinion she played it superb, it’s no wonder these producers and directors are going after her talent and it’s not just given to her, she auditioned for each of her roles that she is doing now so re-analyze your comment before you post, don’t post because of hatred or jealousy it’s useless and it contaminates your mind until you like yourself no more.

I’ve never seen any of Zack Snider’s work but judging by what I am hearing he obviously has done a some great work.
Jenny, at first I thought you were a fan but now I’m starting to think differnetly. We all know that vanessa is filming and Zac is preparing for his next upcoming movie so there really is no need to be constantly asking where thet are and if things are alright between them, that isn’t even our business. But I must say that I am truly proud of the progress that she is making. She’s beginning to emerge and become more noticable i the eyes of movie directors. Next thing you know she’ll be in movies directed by Steven Speilberg!

Well most Vanessa haters are Ashley fans because of 3 reasons:
1. Thay CAN NOT tolerate the fact that ZAC is with VANESSA almost 4 years (and he does not care about ashley, he just like her has his sister).
2. at the beginning of HSM Ashley had more fans then Vanessa but then VANESSA “stole” most ashley fans so its bothering them

All the special effects where awsome and Snyder is a very good director: my teacher showed us this film in history class because it was very faithful of the true story of the spartans, all the little details and the different characters fitted with the true story.

Reading this article has made me excited. The fact that someone like Zach Snyder has decided to cast a “former Disney star” proves that Vanessa must have something special to bring to the character. She put effort and hard work into her audition and landed the role. I’m looking forward to reading more updates on the film.

On the topic of Vanessa’s role in Bandslam. Her acting in the trailer may have seemed flat to some people but that is because Sa5m speaks in one tone. The truth is Vanessa’s acting in the trailer was pretty spot on. If you read the character description of Sa5m it makes a lot more sense.
I personally think that her acting HSM was fine. I didn’t see anything wrong with it personally but I do respect your opinion though. It’s great that your giving her a chance and taking some interest in Sucker Punch.

When it comes to someone having the right to an opinon:
If I say: “The sky has no color and isn’t very good looking”. That is stated as fact and the person sounds like it should not be debated and they are right.
If I say: “The sky has no color to me and therefore doesn’t look good to me”. That statement is an opinion. You may not agree with the person but the person is making it known that it is how they see it and it may not be what others see. That is an opinion. Others may not like it but it isn’t like saying the other person has no opinion and is stupid if they don’t see it that way.
Some states things like sammantha did meaning it to be an opinion but most of the time people states things like that to be insulting and they know it which means they are trying to push people’s buttons and get a reaction. Then those type people will use the old “I have a right to my opinion”.
People need to learn how to express themselves so people won’t misjudge what they mean. And I’m not trying to be mean to those who do not speak the same language—if they truly don’t—and are doing the best they can to express themselves. Usually you can tell the difference anyway.

I doubt that this is true because Zac has said before that he hates interviews. And knowing you, now you are going to say he is cheating on Vanessa with Britney. She has a boyfriend, and her and Zac are just friends, in fact B has said that her and Vanessa are best friends, so don’t even to there.

As far as Zac smoking I seriously doubt it since he once said in an interview how much he hated it and how if a girl he liked did it that it would probably be a “deal breaker”—meaning he would end up not dating her.
However, he has been around a lot of Hollywood folks who do smoke and sometimes young people can be drawn into things they didn’t think they would ever do. Look at what happened to Lindsey Lohan and Britney Spears. At least Zac isn’t falling down drunk and doing drugs. I hope he hasn’t decided to take up smoking either but he is 21 years old and has a mind of his own.

Her HSM ( movies) were the biggest opportunity & blown her TALENT in ACTING , SINGING AND DANCING .She made even BREAKTHROUGH herself as an ARTIST. For those who are still in question of her SINGING TALENT : Remember she is the only HSM star who got a solo piece in the ALBUM. From there, she able to signed up a record deal which resulted to a 500,000 copies sold and got even GOLD on that record. Successively, she made her 2nd album on 2008.
Her Singing prowess is incredible. Remember again her training ground is THEATER. AND theater means PERFORMING LIVE SHOWS. ( not Lipsync nor a playback, no takes 2). That makes her a REAL ARTIST ON THE STAGE.
What else she needs to prove after HSM?? She is pretty well loaded. Seriously, it seldom happens to a 20year old young actress having bunch of movies: BANDSLAM, BEASTLY, SUCKER PUNCH and recent talks.. Dead@17).
Come on detractors spare Vanessa. Accept the fact now that she has a way edge from her co stars in HSM. I may say at times, I go to some threads & read some comments. And as much as possible not to comment especially other fans always putting down Vanessa . It’s hard sometimes to pinpoint as to who started the issue. VANESSA’s fans vs. her friend ASHLEY fans. It was even said in one on other thread that never compare ASHLEY resume’s to VANESSA… ( never underestimate our dear girl)

Mr Bruce Willis has been working for 40 yrs, always on the same stupid type of films, and no one can say he’s that talented. Hudgens is just a pretty face, well-known right now, so directors hope they will earn somethinig with her in the movie, cuz her die hard fans will watch the film, no matter how awful it looks.

I’ve never heard of a movie, EVER, making hundreds of millions the first week. Get off your high horse; Ashley will never either. No one will. And how do YOU know that she’s so full of herself? Just because she is in photoshoots where she has to pose and look a certain way? And that disturbs you? What’s wrong with you? That “ain’t” the real Vanessa. Listen to what people around her think; Zac said she’s an amazing girl with a big heart, Mary Kate just recently said she’s so sweet, Brittany Snow adores her, and I could go on and on with comments from her co-workers, directors, and close friends.
As far as smart? Well, quite a few people have said she’s very smart, including Zac, who knows her best. How could you even begin to know how smart she is????? I’d say, just from seeing what she’s doing in her blossoming career, she’s damn smart and savvy. She’s working it just right…..she’s making ALL the right moves, and directors are coming to her. I’d say it takes a lot of smarts to handle things the way she has.
You’re just ticked because that hasn’t happened for Ashley yet. Go back to your Tizz world, and leave Vanessa alone if you don’t like her. Don’t you know bullying isn’t cool?

I have thought about all those things too, Sofia. Some tried to start all this stuff last year but it never took wings. I’m hoping it isn’t true and that Zac’s attitudes towards smoking has not changed and not just for health reasons. I hope if he has started this habit that someone tell him if he wants to hang on to his tremendously good looks for as long as possible and then some not to smoke as it ages a person and puts lines in their face. As good looking as Brad Pitt once was that is why his face is really looking a lot older and the skin tone is dull. It is not because he is in his 40’s. He has just made himself look older because of the cigarettes.

Usually i really don’t care about his personal life, i’m a fan of him as an actor, also, he’s not a reality show star, so we should not be interested in his personal life…but this is a lil more…delicate than know what he uses to eat for breakfast, you know what i mean? Last year, there was the famous pic of him and Vanessa in his car, and you can clearly see some malboros…i can’t misunderstand this, my dad smokes them…at firts it could seem that the pocket is on V’s lap, but actually, it’s in the middle of the car, where usually you could put a lil bottle. And here it comes the big question: both Z and V are health concious, Zac even said he can’t stand smokers…but looking at them, which one could be the smoker? Look, now i love Vanessa more than ever, i’m a die hard fan, last year…well…maybe it was because of high school musical, but i really didn’t like her at all, but now, that i can see this young woman growing up, making right and wise choices for her carrer, i completely changed my mind!:) Anyway, so last year when this pic came out i was only a Z’s fan…and even if i really disliked V, i thought that the smoker’d have been…Zac. Don’t know why…i’m sincere. Looking at V, at her skin, her hair and teeth, you can’t say she smokes, she looks too healthly to be a smoker, also, she’s a singer, smoking would just ruin her voice. On the other hand, Zac does look in good health too, his hair, skin and teeth are ok as well…but…i repeat, though i’m a huge fan of him, if i’ve to choose a possible smoker between him and V, id’ choose him…:/ but since i don’t get evidences (like pics or vids) of this, i trust him.
ps: men are luck on this: if the get wrinckes, they could still love handsome; look at George Clooney…but obliviously this is not a good reason to start smoking!^^’

They don’t gross a lot of money and usually people have not heard of them. Yet they are cinematic masterpieces. There are many films that gross hundreds of dollars but have absolutely no depth to them. It is popularity that brings in the dollars half the time.
Second of all, do you know her?? Do you have any idea who she really is?? Obviously not. You can’t say someone is full of themselves when you have no idea who they are. All you see are media portrayals of her and the media are very cunning. They make you think a certain way and don’t tell you the whole truth. So unless you can give me some proof that you know Vanessa Hudgens personally your going to have to rethink your opinion.

I believe AUDITIONING a ROLE for a film is one of the toughes thing that actors / actresses may experience and get through in hollywood.
Everybody can act, but few are given chances. For now, the chance/s that Vanessa’s holding now is for her to prove that she is worth to see in the BIG SCREEN & be proud of to anyone else that she deserves where she stood right now.

I’m not shocked that she is athletic because of all the candids that are shown of her, Zac and Ashley going to the gym. Plus, dancing for a month/months in preparation for a movie is no joke. You have to be in some shape to keep up.

I agree with you. It is these silly type “polls” that keep stupid feuds going. They are only set up to get weak-minded people to buy into it. Nothing anyone says will change anything. The outcome of these girls’ careers will depend entirely on what they want to do, the choices they are given and the ones they make, and how good their movies are received, etc.
