Starring Vanessa Hudgens, Alyson Michalka, and Gaelan Connell, the rocking comedy flick is set to hit theaters on Friday, August 14th.
Movie summary: When gifted singer-songwriter Charlotte Banksasks (Michalka) asks new kid in town Will Burton (Connell) to manage her fledgling rock band, she appears to have just one goal in mind: go head-to-head against her egotistical musician ex-boyfriend, Ben (Scott Porter), at the biggest event of the year, a battle of the bands.
Against all odds, their band develops a sound all its own with a real shot at success in the contest. Meanwhile, romance brews between Will and Sa5m (Hudgens), who plays a mean guitar and has a voice to die for. When disaster strikes, it’s time for the band to make a choice: Do they admit defeat, or face the music and stand up for what they believe in?

@#1, kourtney. Bandslam is not expected to be a blockbuster hit. It is not expected to be big. It is Indie, low budget type of movie that is meant to be a fun entertaining family and teen movie to watch. Vanessa is not the lead star in this movie, she is playing a supporting role. Aly is the lead actress, and Gaelan is the lead actor for Bandslam. Aly and Gaelan will be the two that command the majority of the screen times than Vanessa. The film company is using Vanessa as a name carrier for promoting the movie, because she is well known to the public.

It is probably a fact that Zac will WANT to be there to support Vanessa and will be there for the premiere IF he can. Given the fact that he has a movie tat will be starting to film anywhere from the end of July to the middle of August in Vancouver, Canada, we cannot be sure what he will be able to physically do. It may not be his fault if he cannot be there.
PLUS, this will be Vanessa’s movie premiere—a movie that she is not the lead in, btw—so it is not suppose to be a “Zanessa” premiere. Just like Vanessa did everything she could not to make his premiere of 17 Again about her personally or them as a couple, I’m sure Zac will show just as much respect for her as well as for Aly and Gaelan. These three are the ones who put the work into this project and they are the ones who should get the most attention!

I’m excited for this movie… it looks funny, and even if it doesn’t do that well, at least V is already furthering her acting career. That’s good. Zac might go, he might not, it depends on his film schedule. It is coming out right around when he should be going to Canada.
The soundtracks looks interesting enough… I prob. won’t buy it, but I’ll look up the songs.
I want some pix from Montreal, just to see how the movie is going. I’m excited for that, too. Can’t wait to see all of V’s projects. Zac’s, too, but I realize this is a V thread not a ‘zanessa’ thread or whatever.

bandslam is NOT an indie movie. it is being distributed by summit entertainment. if it were an indie film, they would be looking for a distributor.
btw, wonder if david bowie will be doing any promoting since some of his music is in the movie and he does a cameo appearance. wonder if he and his wife will be at the premiere.
i think older fans who are writer/director todd graff’s age will see the movie for the music.
Oh I can’t wait to hear Aly’s bands version of I Want You To Want Me. That song is good already, I hope theirs turned out just as good. Looks like a good tracklist, sweet.

Summit is an indie studio so in that sense yes it is.
Regardless it’s still pretty low budget and like fan said isn’t expected to be and doesn’t need to be a huge blockbuster hit. I hope Bowie does do a little promotion for his music in the movie.

Already pre-ordered mine. I’ve been waiting for ever to hear Van’s cover and the rest of the artists including David Bowie and velvet underground especially.
The sound track sounds very promising. I like the idea of introducing younger music lovers to indie and real music.
Can’t wait for Van to start promo with the rest of the cast. I kinda feel she might not be involved with all the promo as she’ll nedd to go start fight training for SP. I’ll guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

I’ll be the first to say I’m anxious to see Aly in this. I read the script and the role was definitely written for her. It will be amazing to hear new Aly and AJ music and contrary to popular belief, Vanessa isn’t starring in this film, she’s a supporting role.
I wish I understood this ridiculous hype of zanessa~~ and all the cute pet names people develop for someone they don’t even know. Then again these are the same people that feel the need to bash any of Zac’s friends or co-stars when mentioned, cool if you feel like using people as a verbal punching bad to defend someone you will never know. It’s understandable to like someone for their talent, but I’ve never seen a group of people so obsessed with a relationship. This isn’t a zanessa post, it’s an update regarding a MOVIE that some of us are actually looking forward to and not in hopes to see zac and vanessa together. Zac’s been in much of the week playing Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 and then sneaking out to see his secret girl friend who lives in San Fransico. He is no longer with Vanessa sorry had to break the news but your heartthrob has been seeing this girl for over a month not gonna state who she is

The picture looks like it was taken while Vanessa and Alex are filming a scene from the movie.
And once and for all: Both Zac and Vanessa have confirmed on Ellen that neither of them have a twitter. Even at the premiere of 17 Again in Hollywood when an interviewer was speaking with Zac on the red carpet he mentioned how Vanessa had twittered something about the evening and Zac quickly got a puzzled look on his face and quickly state how “Vanessa doesn’t have a twitter”. SOOO, even though ANYONE can say they are Zac or Vanessa on a twitter, ANYONE can say they saw either Zac or Vanessa while tweeting, also people can say Zac or Vanessa was seen with anyone or doing anything while tweeting, it doesn’t mean it is TRUE. Obviously if someone says they are Zac or Vanessa THAT is simply a lie which has been confirmed by both their own mouths…
