Before heading home for the fireworks, cute couple Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens have an early dinner at Panera Bread restaurant on Saturday (July 4th) in Studio City, Calif.
Zac made headlines last week after finally shaving and cutting his hair. Vanessa, in a Lauren Moshi “Lauren” swing tank, will soon be promoting her new film, Bandslam, out August 14. Last week, her “Everything I Own” music video was released.

1. Zac is being Zac. The look on his face is no big mystery. It is obvious they are facing the sun. For once—and I’m glad of it—Zac does not have sunglasses on and anyone who has blue eyes can honestly say when facing the sun you will have that kind of look on your face. The sun really kills your eyes. You can tell he is trying to block the sun.
2. It is likely Zac had a BUSINESS meeting with Megan. There is no drama there either. Would you people rather have a rumor that he was seen in a very public place like a restaurant having this meeting or have someone say they saw her leave his house??? Where else is he suppose to meet with people? He is to be an executive producer on this new movie project, he will be meeting with different people.
3. Vanessa is not done filming Beastly so she will be returning to Montreal tomorrow.
BTW, I LOVE Zac hair in these pictures. I like it “fuller” like that. I’m not much for that “wet and slicked down” look.

Also, I would say some of the twitters were incorrect yesterday. I mean, how many times did these two eat??? Here we have pictures of them at Panera Bread but it was also twittered that they were at the hamburger place too. Then they go home for a party where I would think some kind of refreshments were served—although Vanessa has said she isn’t the best at serving food at her house! LOL But I would think there would have been something to drink and snacks to munch on as it would seem to have been a pool party. But maybe that report was completely correct either. It would seem that these young people would have enjoyed having a few friends in for the holidays though.

I’ve said this more than once but I am going to say it again. NOBODY owns this haircut. It does not belong to RobPat or Zac or any other guy. It is just a haircut that is the trend right now. As I point out in another comment on another thread when the bangs for women started we saw one or two actresses with them then we saw more and more. She has both her parents’ genes. And to say that it is all her father’s genes is totally not true. She inherited her father’s gams yes and her father is in no way a looker either. It is apparent that Zac is squinting because of the sun as I said before. It also looks obvious as others have pointed out that he has “misplaced” his car. I believe that is why Vanessa is smiling and laughing because she apparently isn’t any help to Zac in finding it. I would suspect that the paps pretty mucn realize what is happening and are probably making comments in regards to it and who knows what else they are having time to say while Zac is looking for the car. I’m sure he just wants to get the heck out of there and not have to be pestered any more than he has to be by them.

Honestly, a moment ago people were saying they had broken up, and now we get pictures of them, people are saying he is miserable. Poor guy can’t just go for a lunch with his gf without being hounded. She’s just come home and he probably just wanted to get some time alone with her and grab a bite to eat before the party that night. Not to mention that the sun is in his eyes, hence the hand and the squinting, he has no sunglasses on and that is unusual for him. As for V being all smiles, let us not forget that V has been away filming and has not really had to deal with paps for a while, plus she generally is a giggly person and does tend to make it lighthearted. She is obviously trying to make him relax, but Zac just seems to tense when they are around, some times not, but most of the time, yes. It’s a very protective thing too, of V and of his privacy. As someone mentioned, he wasn’t smiling in the candids the other day when he was getting beer with his friend, this does not mean that he hates his friend or doesn’t want to be friends with Taylor anymore; he just doesn’t like the intrusiveness.
And it is beyond obvious that they are so relaxed with one another, something which only comes from knowing the other person intimately and being akin to what someone is feeling. V knows what Zac is like and is aware that he is not smiling, is it bothering her, no. Should it cause a fuss, no. Does it mean he doesn’t lover her no! It’s pretty obvious what they were doing before they went to dinner, you don’t have to be a genius to work that one out. Too relaxed perhaps….I personally think they look refreshed, relaxed and are enjoying being together. I think it’s less than 12 days this time around. Seems they can’t go too long without seeing each other, which is beyond adorable and a mark of a very serious relationship. You don’t spend time with someone you don’t want to, nor do you fly to see them if you don’t love them. It’s so good to see V as it’s been too long. She looks great as always, and Zac’s hair is looking good now it’s not slicked back.
I don’t see why people are reading so much into this. When Zac sees the papz he doesn’t smile. It’s like his rule or something. On these Zanessa threads it’s been mentioned countless of times. When you do see him smile for the camera it’s either, a rarity or he didn’t see the cameras to begin with. I don’t know how many times this has been mentioned in previous Zanessa pictures. Like the event of the black eyed peas, Zac didn’t look jump for joy happy but when reports came out they were said to have been ‘the perfect picture of love.’ We just didn’t get that in the picture. Vanessa is very giddy and likes to make the best out of everything, Zac isn’t so cheery for the cameras. He’s probably like always annoyed by them. If Zac is as miserable as people claim he would have no reason to stay with Vanessa. He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to do that to both her and him.
My point is a picture doesn’t always mean a thousand words. You can’t honestly believe that Zac is going to act the same way he does with his girlfriend as we would for the papz..
@poppy: Thanks, Poppy. Zac rarely smiles for the paps, unless they happen to catch him. There is nothing to read in these pictures. They are of a nice couple, who are obviously together and happy, or she would not have flown home to see him, and they would not have spent the last few days together, doing dinners, throwing a party, and just having fun. And seriously, if you look closely, there is one of him looking at her, grinning, until they spot the paps, and then they just want to quickly get to the car. Nothing to talk about here, other than the fact that they look very relaxed and gorgeous, as always.
If he had a supercilious grin on his face all the time in pap pics people would say that they were faking it for the cameras like Speidi and blah blah blah. I for one am glad that they both show real emotion and depth. People do not smile all the time, he is not a doll and just because he is squinting and appears perturbed at the paps, or that he can’t find his car, does not mean he is unhappy or that he is not in love with V anymore. Some people really need to get a clue and grow up and realise that these two have a real relationship and it is not a reality show for people to analyse and make snide comments about.

If Zac didn’t want to be with Vanessa I’m sure nobody held a gun to his head and made him go out to get lunch with her. Plus, if he was annoyed with her over her touching him, etc, believe me she wouldn’t be doing it more than once as he would let her know not to do it and not let anyone else—the paps—know about it. They have known each other for nearly 4 years so they know all about each other and Vanessa would know if he was annoyed with her. It seems to me he is very comfortable and even likes to feel Vanessa holding on to him. It just seems he is trying to find their car and the sun is killing those big blue eyes. And while they are searching for the car in a big parking lot their is at least one nut who is following them around snapping pictures every 2 seconds and most likely saying God know what to them.
I really dont think they should be together, zac’s only 21, he shouldn’t be tied down to a serious 4 year relationship neither should she, she’s only 20, they should separate for a bit and have some time to explore, rather than being committed to eachother, they both need a break! x
