Wizards of Waverly Place Wins Emmy!
The cast and crew of Wizards of Waverly Place express their excitement in the press room after their win for Outstanding Children’s Program during the 2009 Primetime Creative Arts Emmys held at the Nokia Theatre LA Live in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon (September 12).
Congrats to Selena Gomez, Jennifer Stone, Jake T. Austin, David Henrie, Maria Canals-Barrera, executive producer Peter Murrieta and series creator Todd Greenwald. They were up against Hannah Montana and iCarly.

Before some miley/selena fight starts, which i KNOW it will, i just want to say that. Nothing is going to change the fact that wizards won. and the cast and crew deserved it cause its a great show. they’ve all worked hard and so congratz to them. its unfortunate that everytime selena or wizards beat hannah/miley in anything or vise vera, the fans are going to start a fight. As a miley fan myself, i just wanna say to my fellow miley fans to take the high route. the WOWP cast won this fair and square. whinning about it and putting down the show will just make us sore losers. give credit where credit is due. dont be immature about this.

no ofence selena/wizards fan, but the show and the
movie itself FAILS. the show lacks consistancy of holding
a popular teen demographic that “Hannah Montana” and “Lizzie Mcguire” holds on its fans. Those two series/films have hold a strong fan base that supported it through the good times and the hard times. That’s why Hilary Duff and Miley Cyrus Have come so far to there carrer. they both hold popular tour, clothing merch under there own names, a hit tv show/movie adaptation shown in theaters, and #1 albums for many years. Wizards, don’t get me wrong has a cute girl with spunk and that can act, but her attendce to the award show, and the excitment her and her cast and crew had for there nomination, with the numbers of views there “poor” film had recieved, nagged the award for the emmy. while Miley Cyrus and her cast and crew havent shown much excitement and ever the less “careness” about there nomination for the past 3 years.
so basically my point here is that, there attendce and amount of views for there series ot them the award. Hannah Montana is sucsessfull and DOES NOT need an emmy to prove it. wizards and selena gomez: i give them 1-2 more years. NOTE TO ALL SELENA FANS: get over yourself. she cant sing. goodluck with the album sales

omfg this is about the show not the actors well i take it back part of it is about the actors but it’s how they act not what they do outside their shows. hm, wowp, and icarly are all good shows and the critics i believe or other people decide who wins based on the ratings and viewers and fans. i know all 3 of them are really fan based and i respect that but wowp won fair and square and their show makes me laugh everytime! it’s about the show and how the actors potray their characters not what they do outside or their rivalry. im not sure who has the most viewers but i think wizards does.

I think that Wizards’ win was well deserved. I’m outside the target demographic, but I can still appreciate the humor of the show, and the storylines are creative and unique. The recent movie was also amazing, so I am very happy that the cast gets to have this incredible honor. They all do an amazing job.
Umm, to everyone saying that iCarly and Hannah Montana are more “popular” I have news for you. The Emmys aren’t about giving awards to shows that are “popular”. The Emmys are about giving awards to the show with the best writing/acting/etc…which CLEARLY belongs to Wizards. I had no doubt they would win.

Am i the only one that things wizards is kinda boring and not that funny? I mean i don’t even like hannah that much but i think hannah montana should’ve won… it gets better ratings too!
@amanda: Wizards has the best writing, the best acting, the best storylines, the best directing, the best quality, etc. etc., which is why it won an Emmy.
Everyone on HM overacts, exaggarates, makes frantic hand gestures and makes stupid faces to make people laugh, while the actors on Wizards uses their comedic timing.
They Emmy’s aren’t about popularity, who has the biggest stars/is the most watched, it’s about the quality of the work. The Emmy’s are voted by peers in the same business, not by fans.
I’m glad Wizards won. I’ve never watched iCarly, and I’ve only seen a couple of HM episodes, so I can’t really compare either shows. An award show like the Emmy’s wouldn’t compromise it’s integrity by giving it to the cast who is the most excited, or who is there. If it was about popularity of stars, Hannah Montana would have won AT LEAST once. It’s been nominated, what? Three times and nothing? This is Wizards first Emmy nomination and it won right off the bat… That should be a clue to all you haters out there that Wizards deserves the respect of AT LEAST not trashing their win, since they’ve already won the respect of their peers in the business.
This isn’t a popularity contest guys, this is about which show have nicely written scripts, good storylines and quality actors, all of which Wizards of Waverly Place posses. If I’m being honest, Hannah Montana has been getting progressively worse storyline-wise for awhile now. The acting has never been spectacular and the actors lack believable chemistry (both romantic and platonic), the storylines are forgettable and often times shallow, and the comedic timing is nearly non-exsistent. Miley pretty much carries that show, the other characters are pretty much just there to make her look good.
Anyways, my whole family gets a laugh out of Wizards, and that is saying something. It’s a funny show that a wider group of people can enjoy, and it has great potential. The actors are talented, and work really well together, and the episodes are funny and unique. It may not be as popular as Hannah Montana yet, but that doesn’t mean it’s not just as good, or even better.

Congrats to Selena! And guys, It is not because of the acting that got this show to win. The writers are what got the show the Emmy. I won’t deny that I am also a little upset that Miley lost, but being upset won’t change anything/ There is also next year andboth Hannah and Wizards only have one more year to be around and then both girls will be moving on from Disney and looking forward to great careers! So they both have something to be proud of. Just being nominated is a great honor !
