Sara Paxton Sounds Off on TBL Cancellation
Sara Paxton is still shocked at the news that her new CW series, The Beautiful Life: TBL, was axed. The 21-year-old actress chatted with Latina.com about her reactions, her disappointement and what she’s going to do next. Check it:
On how she reacted when she heard about the cancellation: “It’s unbelievable the way that they told us—we were all in the middle of work. I was sitting in the hair and makeup chair, and I’m getting my hair done just like a normal Friday—we were all excited for Friday. And all of a sudden, they got the call, and the producers had to make an announcement on set that we were done—that we were over! And I was sitting there in shock. I couldn’t believe that in the middle of work, the rug was pulled out beneath our feet. Immediately, I run over to Corbin’s [Bleu] room, and I’m like, ‘oh my God, oh my God!’ I was freaking out! And Corbin was shocked. Everyone was just devastated. It was horrible. Terrible.”
On how she feels about the CW not airing any of the other episodes: “It’s a slap in the face! It’s almost like we were part of this family and now suddenly we’re dropped. episodes three, four and five were going to be amazing. That’s what really sucks. You’ve got to have time to let a show get its legs and find an audience, especially when they’re putting zero dollars into advertising. I think it could’ve been huge for the CW. I really think they missed out, and I really think they’re missing out on a huge opportunity for themselves.”
On her next project will be: “Are you kidding me? [Laughs]. We thought we were going to be here until December. Literally we packed up our lives from Los Angeles to New York. I spent two months and thousands of dollars without a paycheck moving to NY. And now they just say, ‘oh, peace, you’re done?’ We all signed 6 month leases, and now we all have to figure out how to get out of our leases, and I have to figure out how to get all my furniture back. I don’t know what to do with this NY furniture. We’re kind of stranded.”
On why she thinks it was cancelled: ” The CW just didn’t put any money into advertising for our show whatsoever. It was up to the cast to keep the show going, so we went to every red carpet, we talked about the show, we publicized, we did twitter, we did everything we could possibly do to get the word out about the show. We thought it was really worth it because we care about the show—we care about each other and we wanted to make it work. But if people don’t know that the show even exists, they’re not going to watch it.”

thats terrible…I WANT IT BACK!
I think it’s a shame they canceled the show so soon; it never really had a chance to develop itself or and audience. In America today, we’re too focused on instant gratification that we can’t see the worth in long-term investments.
its because it sucked. the plot line was terrible there was no theme i couldn’t even get passed the first 5 minutes and also the bad thing about it is that it was airing the same night as glee which A LOT of people watch myself included so maybe if they aired it a different night it would have gotten more ratings…
i was in shock when i heard it was cancelled! i watched the pilot show & i honestly really enjoyed it! this show really did have a lot of potential and its very sad that it got cancelled.
i’m a fan of corbin, sara and misha so therefore i was going to tune in for them anyways. it just sucks.
im so dissapointed in the CW as well! how f-cked up was it in the way that they told them the news?! not cool, cw.
I really don’t really know why CW did that , i think TBL is good show….
i actually really liked this show. i think it had a lot of potential and i’m annoyed that the CW didn’t promote it at all.
i’m so sad for them , oh sara oh corbin
I feel bad, I really wanted to see this show and I’ve waited for see it (and Nico Tortorella) all summer, CW sucks!
I watched the two episodes that were aired and I thought the show had potential. They should have been given more a chance to gain a big audience. I couldn’t believe it was canceled after only two episodes. Networks have let crappy shows, show like 10 episodes before they are canceled not just 2 episodes.
sucks for them. but why after just 2 episodes, when most of the shows on CW get around 1 million viewers as well.
Wow!!!! The cast really got screwed. Guess it’s hard to make plans even for six months when you’re in show business. I watched the first two shows and have to admit, TBL was better than any of those stupid “reality” shows that are so not reality.
they didn’t give it a chance, not fair
oooh poor them!
It must be really really hard for them!
wow… thet didn’t give them a chance!!!
that sooo mess up!
i saw the first 2 episodes
it was great
im so upset its cancelled..they could of at least finished the season
I actually really liked the show so far. I mean it wasn’t terrible that they had to cut it off air!
That’s horrible!
CW should at least show 10 episodes, and give the storyline a chance to develop. After that then review the series and see where it is standing at that particular time. Just two episodes, come on…I have seen the TV series with bad ratings shown for the entire year before canceling it. CW could of let this TV series aire for at least one season/year and see how its rating performances are at the end of the season.
Hoping that the other TV networks will pick it up and aire it.
TBL IS AN AMAZING SHOOOW. THE FIRST EPISODEE WAS GREAT ! I CANT BELIEVEEE THAT CW CANCELED THE SHOW . CW REALLY SUCK.
I think its stupid how they put this show on the same time as Glee.
I did watch the 2 episodes and the show had potential. The CW made no effort in promoting the show. Sure it was up against Glee but it could still find audience like Gossip Girl did. Sara and rest of the cast have every right to be angry.
aww that sucks the show was good
She is 100% right. Go Sara!!!
The ratings were horrible, seriously it got the same rating as the paid programming that goes on the cw on sunday nights. I think that the cw has some shows in production, especially Life Unexpected, whose pilot has been getting really good reviews that they want to get out. They did what they needed to do to save money, but i think that the episodes that are already done with should at least air. That part sucks.
I LOVED that show!i think it’s incredibely stupid they canceled it so fast.CW never really gave it a chance.i’m pissed.
I agree with Sara. I didn’t even know when TBL was on because of the lack of advertising.
this really sucks I was really exited for this week´s show and they canceled it? I mean I really liked the show and some actors are really attractive (Cole) but they shouldn´t have canceled it so quickly they never gave it a chance…… f *** CW that was retarded
