Zac Efron: Nylon’s November Cover Guy
Zac Efron shows off his short hairstyle on the November 2009 cover of Nylon Guys magazine.
The 21-year-old actor dished to the mag about making a record, seeing his face on a lunch box and watching his latest film, Me & Orson Welles, all the way through. Check it:
On not skipping out on a showing of Me and Orson Welles: “It’s the first time I’ve ever watched a movie [that I’m in] and in the end I’m like, ‘OK! I didn’t check my watch once!’”
On growing up musically inclined: “I was constantly singing. I would hear things on the radio and just be able to spit them out instantly, with perfect memorization and tone. It wasn’t like I took pride in it; there was no effort. My parents were like ‘Shut up. Please stop singing. It’s annoying.’”
On whether celebrity albums are necessary: “If anyone asked themselves that, then we wouldn’t have the crap we are listening to today. If your heart’s not in it, don’t do it. And don’t do it for money. That’s my philosophy.”
On his Disney fame: “I try not to look at all of it. You can’t enjoy or celebrate it; it’s not a real thing. The face on the lunchbox and s— —you can’t share that with your friends.”

Do you ever wonder if he’s insulting his friends when he talks about why he never did an album? I mean Vanessa, Ashley, and Corbin all did and he just said that the music was crap on the radio. I mean maybe he didn’t mean them specifically but I’ve always wondered about that.

I don’t think that he sounds arrogant or like a jerk at all. As far as an album, he’s said in the past that he didn’t feel that he had anything to offer by doing an album, and that he wanted to focus on acting.
The other pictures on the magazine web site are really cute too.

Why must you try to find something to pick at. He has said in the past how he loves to listen to Vanessa sing and how good she is at it. He has also talked about—when they were doing promotions for HSM3 in London—how he had been able to listen to some of Corbin’s CD that he was at that time working on and how good it was… SO, don’t try to read something into what he said that would be bad. I can clearly see what he means. Let’s think about “Heidi” and people like that which do musical CD’s for the money and to get noticed but have no musical talent of knowledge whatsoever. Why are people always so quick to try to find fault with someone? He’s simply saying there as SOME who have no business making a CD—it doesn’t mean he is referring to people like Ashley, Corbin, or Vanessa for crying out loud!
And Taylor you always are saying something negative. I just wish people could and would remember some of the posters who do this and give them no time at all in what they say on these sites. And the lunchbox thing is just a way of playing down all the hoopla about himself. He is trying to expressed in a way—which apparently is not OK with some—that he isn’t buying into all that stuff like it makes him better or more important to his friends—like they should take him more seriously because he can say “Hey, you need to take notice of me because I am on a lunchbox!”
I wish some of you could use your brain first instead of being ready to find something wrong with what someone said or because someone didn’t express something the way YOU would have wanted them to.

I agree with Ashley and Jo.It’s not people reading into things cause he’s said these things before. When dose the full article come out.For some odd reason i want to read the hole thing.
I liked the interview, he shoots it straight from the hip. The fact of the matter is, he’s right about the album making, Disney gives you a record contract upon signing up with them, let’s be real some of the kids can’t sing to save their souls and are just doing it for money not because their hearts are in it and that’s the bottom line.
Zac is also growing up and he really wants to shed the Disney image although they still got a hold on him, that’s pittyfull, what will it take for him to leave Disney? hopefully the MEOW movie will make it or break it, his acting is similar and he hasn’t really changed from HSM, 17 again and MEOW same Zac different movies, he hasn’t really stretched out yet so as far as I’m concerned his acting abilities still momo, so he’s stuck, at least he got his great looks.

Question-Is this a different magazine than “Nylon”? Anyways,I liked the
interview. He’s very honest and I actually agree with his statement about celebrities putting out an album, As always some people here
didn’t read his entire statement. He was trying to say be true to yourself and put out music because you love it, not for money. I honestly think all his friends love music and put it out for the right reasons.
