78violet sisters and singers Aly and AJ Michalka just sent out a blast email to all their fans with some major news! Check out what the rocking duo had to say:

“Hey guys…so we know it’s been quiet in the 78violet camp but we want to first off thank you for sticking with us. We have some big news and wanted to make sure you hear it first.

“Now that it’s official, we can tell you we’re no longer a part of Hollywood Records. What does that mean exactly??? Now we have the freedom to take 78violet in the direction we want. We’re writing and recording new music and are really excited on what’s next. So…what is next? As for the album we recorded for Hollywood, honestly, we don’t foresee it ever being released. But…we are continuing to write and record new songs that we hope you’ll love as much as we do.

“We’re going to be taking the Aly & AJ website down in the meantime which means the current message board will be removed and the accounts you created on the site will be put on hold. Yes…major bummer. But we’ll have a new message board and a new temporary site up in a few days that will serve as our main communication with you for the time being.

“As always, you can get a hold of us on Twitter or Facebook. We love you and are excited to share the new 78violet with you. Xoxo. A+A, 78violet.”

WHAT DO YOU THINK of Aly & AJ’s major news?

Aly Michalka quickly checks her phone as she and sister AJ head out of Katsuya restaurant in West Hollywood on Tuesday night (January 12).

Earlier in the day, the 78violet sisters lunched with long time friend and Secret Life of the American Teenager star Renee Olstead. They tweeted, “So awesome having lunch with @Renee_Olstead. Nothing better than good food and good girl talk :)”

AJ, 18, recently chatted with Starry Mag about their upcoming record. She shared, “My sister and I just recent wrapped up our latest record and that’s going to be coming out next year. We’re really, really excited, we’ve been working on it for a while now. We’ve got lots of new material, new songs, new style. Aly and I are really excited about the new sound. It’s still definitely Aly & AJ, but it’s a revamped more Rock in your face version of it. Also, I really feel like instrumentally it’s just a whole other level now.”

Aly, 20, looks to be sporting a new silver hoop nose ring. What do you think of it?

Vanessa Hudgens keeps it cute in a floral dress as she heads to the Aroma Coffee & Tea Company on Wednesday evening (January 6) in Studio City, Calif.

The 21-year-old actress met up with her pals, 78violet sisters Alyson Michalka and AJ Michalka (both pictured below) plus Ashley Tisdale (not pictured).

The sisters tweeted earlier in the day, “Getting a little eyebrow waxing done and then off to hang with our girlfriends V and Ash. :)”

AJ Michalka scrunches up her nose in laughter as she chats with Teen.com about her role in the upcoming The Lovely Bones. Check out what the 18-year-old starlet had to say:

On her best friend: “It may sound cliche, buy my best friend is my sister Aly. We’re super close and do everything together, not just music and film, but everything. We’re always attached at the hip. We’re kind of a package deal (laughs). If you get one of us, you get the other.”

On her favorite scene in the movie: “One of my favorites is the scene with the glass bottle and the ship inside and how it’s breaking. It really symbolizes how Mark Wahlberg’s character is feeling.”

On her type of books to read: “I’m such a book nerd! My sister and I will go into Barnes and Noble for hours surrounded by books…’The Lovely Bones’ is one of my favorite books. I’m a big fan of Charles Bakowski, I read a lot of his books. They get a little intense so I have to take a break sometimes.”

The Lovely Bones opens in theaters on Friday, January 15.

AJ Michalka just premiered her new flick, The Lovely Bones early this week and is stoked about the release.

The 18-year-old singer/actress recently say down with Inspire Magazine to chat about her role as Clarissa, costar Saoirse Ronan and just exactly what 78violet means. Check it:

On The Lovely Bones: “I was already a huge fan of the book. It’s such a moving story! [There's an] element of imagination. [Peter Jackson, director] stayed very true to the book. There’s [just] so much pressure that goes into adapting the screenplay from ["The Lovely Bones"]! [They]did an amazing job with capturing all the emotions of the Salmon family.”

On the real meaning behind 78violet: “Aly’s favorite number has always been 7 [and] mine has always been 8. [78 is actually] the chemical element Platinum that is resistant to corrosion. The color violet has always been very poignant in our lives. It has the highest vibration of all the color rays. It is the color of ‘creativity and intuition.’”

On Clarissa, her role in The Lovely Bones: “[I was] thankful and extremely happy. Clarissa is very much a part of a big turning point in the book and film. There’s a maturity and a bit of a wild side. I had seen Saoirse Ronan in Atonement, she is so talented!”

78violet sisters Aly and AJ Michalka go glamorous as they arrive at the premiere of The Lovely Bones held at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Monday evening (December 7).

AJ, 18, stars as Clarissa in the drama about young girl (Saoirse Ronan) who has been murdered and watches over her family - and her killer - from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.

The Lovely Bones hits theaters on Friday, January 15.
