Emily Osment smiles as she gets the news that she can still sing while backstage at The View on Friday morning (November 20).

The 17-year-old singer told producer Jennifer Brookman that although she can’t talk, she can still sing and will be able to perform.

Emily shared, “I have a really good vocal coach and he’s taught me how to sing without using my vocal cords. So, I can sing, but I can’t talk. It’s weird.”

Emily Osment sings the catchy Christmas tune “Run Rudolph Run” at the Christmas Window Unveiling Spectacular at Macy’s Herald Square in NYC on Thursday evening (November 19).

The 17-year-old actress/singer recently stopped by the Yahoo! offices in Santa Monica, Calif., to chat about being on tour with label mate and pals Push Play.

Emily shared, “We’re doing North and South Carolina, Boston, Albany…we’re in Atlanta and Tennessee too.”

She added about a possible European tour one day, “Like I have any say in that (jokingly). I wish! That’s why everyone has to listen to the music and go buy the EP because I want to come and do a European tour.”

Emily Osment clutches onto her pillow and she and her band make their way though LAX airport in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon (November 11).

The 17-year-old musician is headed to North Carolina to start her leg of touring with good pals and label mates Push Play. Emily tweeted this afternoon, “Playing the Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte tomorrow at 6:30pm with @PUSHPLAY Tickets are still available! Retweet!!”

Emily recently chatted with Star News Online and dished about Alanis Morisette being one of her influences. She shared, “She’s very talented, and she’s one of those singer songwriters that’s going to be around forever. I think all of them [her songs] really tell a story, and I feel like there are underlying themes of woman empowerment.”

Emily Osment took a break from rehearsal to answer some of her fans many questions. Check out what the 17-year-old Billboard chart topper had to say:

On choosing not to sign with Disney for her music: “I’m not going to hold back and this is my music and music is about being true to myself, and I felt like if I was restricting myself and what I want to say in my record, I felt like going with Disney would be the wrong move for me. They’re a wonderful company and I’ve worked with them for four years and they’re amazing people, but when it comes to music, I’m kind of creating another road here and I want to go with another company.”

On constantly being compared to her BFF costar Miley Cyrus: “You know, you’re going to get judged, so it’s just like, listen to it, you know? People are going to say what they want to say, it’s alright, write a song about it, it’s okay!”

On her choice guitar to play: “I just recently got a beautiful, Samsung acoustic electric guitar that I’ve been playing during rehearsals. I love Gibsons. I wish I had bigger fingers and arms so I could play a Hummingbird. I just can’t manage it, it’s too big on me. My favorite guitar is probably my mom’s 1960 one — it’s the coolest guitar ever. It’s just got so much history in it.”

In the upcoming episode “Come Fail Away,” Miley doesn’t exactly make an impact when she auditions for the starring role of a cartoon duck, so Kyle (Cruikshank), a professional voice-over actor, offers his advice. When she is still unable to impress the director, Miley tries an assortment of techniques, including working with a real duck, to land the part.

Meanwhile, Rico (Moises Arias) tries to transform “Rico’s” into a high-end restaurant by utilizing fancy restaurant gadgets like electronic pagers and a number dispenser.
