Mia Wasikowska signs an autograph for one awaiting fan as she arrives at Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC to tape her segment of The Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday afternoon (March 2).

The 20-year-old Alice in Wonderland actress caught up with the LATimes about filming on a mostly green-screen set.

Mia shared, “It is really strange. But Wonderland itself is bizarre and weird and comical and confusing, so it’s appropriate that, as you say, we were in this green-screen environment where it doesn’t always make sense to you. Things were just really odd and weird, and I suppose that was suitable to what we were working on. It put you in the right frame of mind. And it made you rely on your imagination more.”

Alice is definitely grown up!

Mia Wasikowska shows off her gorgeous Valentino Couture dress at the premiere of Alice in Wonderland at London’s Odeon Leicester Square on Thursday evening (February 25).

The 20-year-old actress recently sat down with ET about working with such notable actors as Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham-Carter.

Mia shared, “Everybody sort of puts a lot of themselves into their characters … everybody on the film and set is a little bit crazy, and I love that. But just to see how brave he [Johnny] is in those choices, and bold, it’s very exposing, so it was really cool that someone can take that on in the way that he did.”

The event, brought to you by Walt Disney Pictures and Buena Vista Records, also featured the whole Alice in Wonderland cast — Director Tim Burton and the rest of the movie’s stars — actors Johnny Depp, Crispin Glover, Michael Sheen, Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway.

Showing off her new shorter hair, Mia Wasikowska (pronounced Vah-shee-kov-ska) models in the garden for the February 2010 issue of Teen Vogue magazine.

The 20-year-old Aussie Alice in Wonderland star, also wearing a Burberry dress, opened up to the mag about being Alice, fame and the upcoming Jane Eyre. Check it:

On taking fame as it comes: “I like my anonymity—that when I meet people they don’t know me. I like getting jobs because I auditioned for them, because of my ability as opposed to my celebrity.”

On playing the title character in the biggest fantasy story: “One of the things that was scary about taking on that role is the huge fan base; everybody has their own idea of who she is. So [Tim Burton and I] discussed, very early on, just being happy with her being our Alice…making her my own. I really think it will be exciting, especially for girls my age because it explores that period of your life when you have these expectations upon you and you’re finding that, amongst that, you have to try and hold on to yourself.”

On taking on the romantic story of Jane Eyre: “I’m completely excited. As a teenager I was very anxious. I had a lot of energy and passion that I wanted to channel into creative things, and I always felt like I wasn’t achieving enough.”

Screenwriter Linda Woolverton chatted with Yahoo about exactly where Underland, the world in the movie, lies. She shared, “It lies somewhere far beneath our world. The only way to get there is to fall down a rabbit hole. Time has passed. The Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter) rules the whole land. It’s under her thumb. And the people of Underland need Alice.”

Starlet Mia Wasikowska, 20, recently chatted with the L.A. Times upon being chosen as a Face To Watch In 2010 about her experience working on Alice and with Johnny Depp. She shared, “I was basically planted in this sea of green. I really had to use my imagination.”

Mia revealed her admiration for costar Johnny, saying, “I think he’s so brave and smart with his choices. He can play a crazy character but still give it a core humanity which I think people can identify with. They’re [Alice and Hatter] on the same side. They have an understanding about each other. They both feel like outsiders and feel alone in their separate worlds, and have a special bond and friendship.”
