Miley Cyrus and author Nicholas Sparks stop to snap a pic by the bookshelves in this new shot from USA Today.

The duo caught up with the newspaper to chat about their favorite books, Miley’s character Ronnie and the upcoming The Last Song. Check it:

Nicholas on his favorite love stories: “A romance novel is supposed to make you escape into a fantasy of romance. What is the purpose of what I do? These are love stories. They went from (Greek tragedies), to Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ then Jane Austen did it, put a new human twist on it. Hemingway did it with ‘A Farewell to Arms.’”

Miley on her transition from Hannah to Ronnie: “With the book, I’ve only gotten through part of ‘The Last Song,’ because the movie started first. It’s got things I would like…even the name — I picked ‘Ronnie’ for my granddad. Things like that. But it was not written to make it easy for me, either. Anything that would make her [Ronnie's] parents happy is something she doesn’t want to do.”

The Last Song opens in theaters Wednesday, March 31st.

Liam Hemsworth holds onto girlfriend Miley Cyrus’s hand as they attend the 2010 Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Award Party held at Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles on Sunday night (March 7).

While at the party, JJJ saw Miley sitting on Liam’s lap during Grace Jones‘ performance. So cute!

It was just announced via THR that Liam, 19, is in talks to star in Arabian Nights.

Directed by Chuck Russell, the period epic centers on a young commander (Hemsworth) who, after his king is murdered in a coup, joins forces with Sinbad and Aladdin to rescue Queen Scheherazade. The movie is set to shoot by the end of the summer.

Miley on Liam: “I think we’re both deeper than normal people—what they think and how they feel. He’s very grateful for what he has, but he doesn’t let it go to his head. I’m like that too.”

Liam on the first time he met Miley: “It was funny—working with Miley was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. From the first time we read, it was like I had known her before.”

Miley on the triple threat: “It’s refreshing to work with an actor who isn’t also a singer and dancer and musician and artist and this and that. I’m sick of quadruple threats.”

Taking advantage of the sunny weather, Miley Cyrus leads boyfriend Liam Hemsworth in a bike ride around the neighborhood on Friday afternoon (March 5) in Toluca Lake, Calif.

The darling duo star in the upcoming The Last Song as Ronnie and Will. The flick tells the story of a rebellious girl (Cyrus) who is sent to a Southern beach town for the summer to stay with her father. Through their mutual love of music, the estranged duo learn to reconnect.

Miley, 17, will be presenting this weekend at the 2010 Oscars.
